Notes

  • He is at least partially an antagonist. He isn't unsalvageable as a person, but he's committed evils in search of fueling his desperation for magic. With help and the right guidance he could be redeemed from his madness and desperation. Conversely, with the wrong influence- he could fall entirely into evil
Personality

He is polite and eloquently spoken, almost to an eerie extent. Sitting upon his ruined throne, using his polite manners as he studies those who come to visit him. He is extremely cunning, and it poses extremely difficult to try to trick or outsmart him. His rage is his biggest flaw, as it leads him to make mistakes. Though, after an outburst he typically apologizes...assuming he's not still angry with you. Kindness and understanding is probably the best way to defeat this beast.

He suffers with a lot of doubt and question in who he can trust, but a loyal ally and friend is all Wendrake really wants. He still has a kingdom after all...and perhaps could be convinced to rebuild it with the right advisers and loyalists to help him see clearly.

Though a friend's betrayal could equally be that thing that pushes him over the edge to total corruption.

Trivia

  • In a modern AU he would ride a motorcycle, and be some sort of criminal, more than likely
History

Either a curt but wise man, or a nasty piece of work depending on how you meet him, Wendrake is a hunter who uses his own magical abilities to hunt other magical beings and artifacts/sources of magic to feed his own insatiable need for magical energy.

As a young man he was subjected to the will of an abusive king for a father, supposedly the prince- but his father considered him a threat and hated him for being the next in line. Convinced that his son was out to steal his throne, he demanded him assassinated to prevent him trying to usurp his father's reign. Wendrake, however, didn't go down easily. He fought to the bitter end, and was defeated with a powerful rage in his heart and soul.

Sensing the raw hatred in him, the evil gods intervened. Restoring him with god-magic to what he's now become. And of course, the first thing he did was get rid of his father. And cause chaos and mayhem throughout his kingdom while he was at it.

Wendrake has come to reside in the ruins of his family's old castle. Finding it a satisfying irony that he has come to become a dead king of a dead kingdom, and here he stores his magical artifacts and keeps prisoner those who exemplify magical prowess, sucking these sources dry of their magical power to try to fuel his own.

He might seem quite evil, and that would be a pretty good assessment. However, he does still have a semblance of humanity. He's filled with rage, but kindness and patience can get through his shell. He tends to outbursts, but if someone were to break through to him and become a friend and prove to be someone he can trust, he would become extremely devoted.

Beyond his surface-level aggression, he's still got the heart of a prince. Polite, proper, and wanting the best for others. He doesn't hurt others for no reason; all he ever wanted was to save his kingdom. It was only a shame that they betrayed him. He will only attack those who provoke him, and generally won't hurt anyone he comes to see truthfully as people. Since being controlled by the dark gods, it becomes increasingly difficult for him to see people for who and what they are, but once he recognizes them as other entities they are quite immune to being attacked by him unless they physically harm him first.

Though the kingdom was destroyed and one would think his vengeance has been successfully wrought, it means quite little. It simply leaves him with no direction, simply waiting for that next thing that may provoke or anger him.
