Cadeyrn is the tutelary deity of a small nation hidden within a mountain range, which surrounds a crystal clear lake and the burgeoning people within. While other spirits may title themselves gods within the region, Cadeyrn is the one the people pray to the most: it was she who led them in their exile from another nation as they were being slowly worked to death or outright killed. As a czylph, she came to birth during this time when enough souls had died. Using her cunnning and intellect to spirit a few out of the domain, she began teaching them math, science, and most importantly the art of war. The people named themselves the Estelrians, in honour of the first name they gave Cadeyrn in their language: Estel, meaning star.
Above all else, Cadeyrn values someone using their wit and intellect to guide them to their goals. She herself is a master of war, having learned to wield nearly every weapon her nation uses to a startlingly degree of accuracy. What may surprise some however is that she loves the art of divination, such as scrying or geomancy; she finds such acts to excellent tools of meditation, and as a way for people to find not only inner peace by inner confidence in their abilities.
"I'm building an empire / I'm building it with all I know..."
While she is considered a harsh goddess by some, Cadeyrn is truly lawful and kind to those she swears herself to protect, especially the people she helped free from their centuries of servitude. Her desire of war is mostly framed as a way to protect not only herself but others, as well as teaching those who are open to listening ways to defend themselves or master particular skills they are specifically suited for.
Skills & Patronage
Cadeyrn is the patron of seemingly opposing professions: warfare, divination, and astrology/astronomy (the people of her land consider it one at the same). While warfare seems obvious for those familiar with Cadeyrn and her history, the others may seem more puzzling.
The people of the land claim Cadeyrn fell in love with the moon's reflection within the great lake, and was gifted with the Sight; those who in turn came to love the demi-goddess and were gifted with the ability to do divination via water scrying or mirror scrying were claimed to be blessed by her. Or, that's the tale told by the people anyways. As for astrology/astronomy, it was used back in the day for a way to tell time and plan the slaves' escape from the Walled Lands, and thus is considered a sacred and time-honoured tradition to continue doing so.
Trivia
In her temple there is a large obsidian mirror built into the floor that is often used for Cadeyrn or the temple priestesses for rights of passage, including testing neophyte scryers to see if they have the ability for hydromancy.
More to come.
A powerful love affair between a goddess of strategy and war and a goddess of courtship and autumn. Cadeyrn encountered Roshani on one of her adventures as a youth, and the two struck up a friendship, bonding over subjects like geometry in art and astronomy. When Roshani began being worshipped more prominantly in a nation to the east, she became more sedentary, and Cadeyrn felt comeplled to visit her from time to time. The pair soon fell in love; there is a holiday dedicated to lovers based on them in their respective nations (Cadeyrn finds it mildly humiliating, Roshani finds it as a convenient excuse to shower her lover with gifts).
Sutra is a creature of trickery, with the majority of his followers mostly harmless pranksters. While the two could have bonded over their shared cunning, it's Sutra's capricious nature and his lack of punishing followers who use their god-given gifts to swindle, coerse, decieve others that has Cadeyrn drawing the line. Him and his followers are rarely welcome in her nation, usually only allowed on holy days that involve upending order or harmless trickery.
Sutra has been known to overstay his welcome, however.
