Azrael is an ophan who guards god's throne simultaneously while shepherding souls to the afterlife. How it does this is a mystery, but other angels have speculated that it has the ability to extend its mind into separate forms that it takes, appearing and disappearing instantly and at will, where it needs to be. If this is true, it means that Azrael could be in thousands of places at once, during every minute of the day. Other angels are very unsettled by this, but Azrael doesn't respond when spoken to, so it is unknown whether it is true.

If it has a form that resembles wheels, no one has ever seen it.

Azrael exists in a constant fugue state and rarely seems to emerge from it to speak or pay attention to anything at all. When it does, it seems that Azrael can be quite sarcastic and even mean. It may seem that Azrael wanders aimlessly, but it can be assumed that they're so absorbed in their infinite tasks that they only appear to be doing nothing at all.

Azrael's body, like Arael's, is made entirely of pairs of wings. Its halo is capable of shifting shape, but does so at random and without any discernible pattern. It may be shifting based on mood or thought.

As if by force of habit, sometimes Azrael will repeat phrases in sets of three. For example, this is how it might say the following sentences: "Begone, mortals, this is a hallowed place! You have been warned! You have been warned! You have been warned!" This depends entirely on how Azrael is thinking and feeling in the moment. Strong emotions seem to be the reason it decides to repeat things in sets of three.

Azrael will sometimes sing in a discordant voice without melody. They don't seem to notice that their songs lack any appealing features and are difficult to listen to.

For some reason, the angel Arael welcomes Azrael's presence. It will often go out of its way to seek whatever companionship it seems to get out of being with Arael.
