Arael is an angel from an unknown choir, and of unknown status, who roams around the earth in perpetual silence. It has never spoken, as far as anyone can tell, and it seems that other angels are completely unaware of its existence. It is unknown if Arael is even capable of understanding speech, as it rarely appears, and has never been approached by other angels besides Azrael, nor mortals. Azrael, despite spending many hours with the creature, has never answered any questions pertaining to Arael.

Arael has been observed singing in a low, melodic voice that sounds like the deep tones of a large bell when in the presence of the angel Azrael.

Arael spends most of its time in the ocean, and so has earned a reputation as an ocean dwelling cryptid in some parts of the world. Though it lives in the ocean and can be assumed to be corporeal, it doesn't seem to disturb the water as it moves through it. Oddly, despite never moving the water or even appearing to get wet, its body and wings droop and drag as if caught under the weight of water, or as if they were really being pulled through it.

It's gigantic, at a massive 500 foot (~152 meters) height, and its body is made entirely of outstretched wings (save for its 10 heads). Its halo expands past its many heads, but shines very dully, which can create an eerie glow at night or in heavy fog.

The large wings that appear on Arael's back are translucent and appear to be made entirely of light. They disappear, and reappear in different numbers, sometimes forming only a pair, or as many as 8 wings all at once. Occasionally, they can appear solid, but are usually fairly faint and drag behind Arael as if in slow motion, or pulled by the effort of moving through the ocean.

For some reason, the angel Azrael likes to find Arael and spend time with it. They will often sing together.
