Ochieng'

Ochieng' Opolo is a short man who hails from the heaven-like realm of the Aether. As a boy, he was found to have exceptional talent in the art of magic, and was sent to the Overworld for more specific training. He missed the clouds of the Aether, but relished the chance to know people from all corners of the worlds. He is adept at using Light Magic, manipulating the basic element of Light to produce a number of effects. Most often, Ochieng' uses this skill to create defensive barriers, protecting himself and other people from harm.
He also works with Healing Magic, using it to augment his light to provide additional benefits. When younger, he used a large staff as a casting focus, but it has since morphed into a functional cane that helps him walk.

He has a torrid past, and the one thing that has kept him grounded through it is his dearest friend Ciara. They have known eachother for nearly 30 years, having met when both were under tutelage at an arcane academy. Their opposing magical elements are what drew them together, but he further connected with her via their shared love of music, folktales, and plants. Ochieng' even realised they both find peace in the twilit hours between day and night.
So close are they, that Ochieng' is like a father to Ciara's daughter, and like a grandfather to her three grandchildren. His garden always has little footprints running through it, and willing little hands to help when his knees hurt too much to bend.

Ochieng' lives in peace nowadays, and tends not to use his light magic for much more than giving a wilting plant a bit of extra sun.
