Easy-going, and affectionate. Personal space is a lost concept to him, as such he's comfortable in near any setting, which may not be the case for the people around him.
His desire to roam freely makes him rather irresponsible and unreliable. He does not bode well when given time-sensitive tasks, often leaving it unfinished or shirking them completely. Constant positive feedback is the only way to get him to work.

Background
Dennis “Dio” Oikonomopoulous was born the only son to a middle-class working family that hailed from the Greek Isles. His father worked on commission, picking up construction jobs around the village while his mother was mostly a seamstress. Whatever outstanding expenses they had were supplemented by the inn they ran out of their home.
Most of the childhood friends he grew up with have moved off the island as a booming wine industry raises the property value. Dio and his family manage to take advantage of the situation as their modest inn becomes their main source of income.
For the majority of the year, Dio is on the mainland where he can further his education prospects, and during the summers he helps out when he can at the lodge. His summers are filled with pleasant memories of people from places that live beyond his bubble.
--Dio gets into a violent physical altercation with a local. His parents are shocked at this uncharacteristic display of brutality, and seek help immediately. Despite their urging, Dio cannot explain his behavior either.
He is monitored for a while at a juvenile retention facility, and then released on good behavior with a clean bill of health. He returns to his loving but concerned parents, although the relationship he had with the village is too damaged to repair.
Naturally, Dio makes the choice to attend an out-of-state university.
