Childhood

Keyon, born as an only child to Kokoro and Genko, was a very quiet child in the beginning years of his life. His father was never very attentive to him, working long hours at the bank and staying out late at night. His mother, Kokoro, worked from home as a seamstress, letting her spend all of her time devoted to him. Keyon became very close to her though he tried being close to his father as well, she loved him more than anything else. As a young child, Keyon would try on the dresses that his mother created and spend hours in them to make her laugh. His father had told him that she was disappointed that she didn't have a daughter, so Keyon took it upon himself to be her 'daughter' regardless. He refused to have his hair cut and would make himself wear frilly clothing. To this day, Keyon has kept his hair fairly long as a small homage to his late mother. She told him many times that she did not wish for him to be a girl instead reassuring him that she would treat his wife as her daughter the one to make the wedding dress. Regardless, Keyon would continue to (try) to wear the fancy dresses she made, the majority of them being much too big for him.

Keyon was never very popular in Elementary school. He was very nervous as a child and hated being separated from his mother for so long. Kokoro gifted him a red ribbon from her sewing kit as a small reminder that she was always thinking of him. He had tied it around his tail and has never taken it off, it becoming the most precious thing that he owns. Though it boosted his confidence, it didn't boost his social life. Because of his quiet nature, he became easy to pick on because he was not willing to speak up. He would hide his cuts and bruises from his mother, knowing that she was dealing with a lot with his father and her own personal problems. It was only when he was in 4th grade did he finally start to stand up for himself, fighting back and eventually landing him in trouble. His father punished him harder than he ever had before, making Keyon turn more passive and frightful again.

He slowly started to resent his father, knowing that he was out with other people on those long nights and that it would make his mother cry. She would always put on a brave face in front of him and say that she was okay but he knew better. As Keyon got older he went out of his way to avoid his father, becoming more and more spiteful every time they interacted. Genko would call him a problem child to only further agitate their tense relationship.

Teenage Years

With his crumbling relationship with his father, Keyon began to stand up for himself in school again. He'd bring things up with teachers and would very rarely resort to violence, giving him a slightly improved reputation. He began to make friends with the wrong kind of crowd, the kids that would constantly get in trouble with the teacher and commit various petty crimes. Keyon was a bystander, for the most part, not wanting himself to become a problem for his mother.

When Keyon was 14, Kokoro suddenly fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. Keyon visited her every day after school, only leaving at night when the nurses made him. She didn't tell him any of the details, just insisting that she was fine and that she would be released sometime soon. Though it was unspoken, both knew she didn't have much time left. It was only a year later that she passed away, Keyon becoming emotionally numb and distant. His father, not even bothering to attend his wife's funeral, had been dating someone on the side for the past years and had planned on proposing soon.

Keyon, now despising his father, left to live with a friend of his mother, Nola. At this time he became angry and unreasonable, Nola's strict form of parenting not helping the situation. He would then spend long nights away from home with his 'friends' becoming more and more involved with their less than savoury activities. He begins to develop a more bold and cocky attitude, solving any problem with a fight. As he developed more and more of a reputation on the street, he was introduced to an organization called ▇▇▇▇, a massive crime syndicate that took an interest in recruiting people at a young age. Unfortunately for Keyon, he was right up there alley. He was quick to get involved as the thought of finally being useful for something was enough to make him jump in with both feet. There he met Varden and Mari, an Incubus and a Succubus with similar tragic backstories. The three being the youngest ones involved, it didn't take long for them to become friends and form a pack. They were hesitant with the gruesome crimes at first, but it was Keyon who became more willing to actually hurt others; Mari eventually following his lead.

As Keyon became more and more involved with ▇▇▇▇, he quickly rose through the ranks; Varden and Mari were suspicious as to why but didn't question him on it. He becomes closer and closer to the two, eventually dating Varden when he was 17. He had a sexual relationship with Mari that lasted throughout the time he was dating Varden; it was no secret to anyone, especially Varden. Keyon became more and more reckless with his behaviour and more violent, the high ranking given by ▇▇▇▇ going straight to his head. Varden became increasingly worried for him while Mari seemed to encourage the behaviour, causing a rift between the three with Keyon in the middle. Both Keyon and Mari started to become more aggressive, causing Varden to be more withdrawn and quiet.

When Keyon was 18, the killings and tortures became more frequent and violent. He seemed unaffected by his actions, almost relishing in the praise that he received from ▇▇▇▇ when doing so. It wasn't until a botched mission with the trio that Mari ended up dying in that Keyon took a step back to look at what he had done. He was absolutely devastated, becoming angry with ▇▇▇▇ but mostly just becoming upset with himself. He started to cling to Varden like he was a lifeline; Varden knowing what had to happen next.

In this time, Keyon had been going to an all-boys high school. He was never the best student, usually being labelled as a delinquent but regardless he attended (only because of Nola's demands). There he met a few more 'good-natured' friends, though he was never as close to them as Varden. In one instance they made a deal with him to start dating Akachi, an all-star student with an unfriendly attitude. Of course Keyon, never one to give up a dare, took the bait and started to get friendly with him, all while still dating Varden. It wasn't until he started to actually like Akachi that he got worried, unsure what to do with himself.

Adulthood

After four years with ▇▇▇▇, Varden finally manages to convince Keyon to give up his power and escape. Both knew that it would haunt them forever and probably catch up with them in their future but it was killing them both to stay. Varden then promptly broke up with Keyon, knowing about what he was doing with Mari and Akachi but also that them being together was a painful reminder of what they had been through. Keyon became angry with Varden, having truly cared for him as well and considering him a coward for throwing it all away. Varden left regardless, knowing that Keyon could never truly love him after all the leniency he gave him before. Keyon, bitter over the breakup, decided to pursue Akachi further (to Akachi's dismay).
