-sir tidus of the house of crestfall— but you can just call him ty.
-seems like the generic protagonist, but is internally quite snarky and likes to make people laugh when he can with his dry, sarcastic humor or a well-timed insult. he tries to be fair and just, but isn’t above some petty revenge against people that deserve it. he starts off indecisive and with low self-esteem, but matures beyond this. he’s generally good with people and takes notice of details about them that others would overlook. he wants to fight for the underdogs.

appearance

-relatively short, particularly when compared to other knights, at 5’6”
-his standard tournament wear (casual fantasy clothes) consists of very standard peasant-style shirts and pants, as he cannot afford any better. he is eventually lent some shirts by others, resulting in a game in which the others have to guess whose shirt he is wearing.
-in the “modern” world, he wears slim-fit jeans and high top sneakers with hoodies or layered shirts and jackets. he sometimes wears scarves, backwards baseball caps, or beanies.
-throughout the tournament he carries a little burlap rag doll in his pouch, which was given to him by a girl named lily who announced that she would be rooting for him.
gear and equipment
-starts out wearing an ill-fitting suit of armor with a cheap-looking cape. lance and zachariah buy him new gear. he doesn’t wear a lot of plates, as he relies on the ability to move around quickly, instead opting for lightweight chainmail and brown leather. his capelet is brown and wraps around his neck like a cowl, affixed with a crest with a crown on it.
-tidus starts off with a cheap, blunt, and heavy sword. lance and zachariah help him acquire a pair of much sharper swords. they are still somewhat plain looking, but lightweight and perfect for his size. they are short blades.
-he keeps a very small dagger that he conceals on his leg while wearing armor and eventually is gifted a tiny blade to keep strapped to his upper arm at all times— even while sleeping.
family and lineage
-crestfall is a “cursed” house after an ancestor betrayed his king, sentencing his bloodline to four hundred years of poverty. the family has not won, or even placed in, a tournament since then.
-tidus’ parents are generally neglectful and abusive and forced him to enter the tournament against his will. he eventually leaves them behind to marry and live with lance.
the rest
-likes “indie” and pop music, binging tv shows, spending time with his friends, and reading and learning about mythical creatures. he spends most of his childhood dreaming of running a rescue for them.
-isn’t allowed to have a proper bedroom when living at home and occupies a corner of the basement, though he does decorate it with posters. when he and lance get their own home tidus becomes somewhat obsessed with decorating everything perfectly.
-at the beginning of the story, tidus is reluctant to compete, lacking in confidence, fearful, and generally “bored”. as he gets to know his fellow knights, though, he becomes a reliable and strong-willed character who is able to see why so many of the other knights love what they do. he also becomes a force to be reckoned with in battle, especially after receiving a blessing from the guardian of the skies.
-tidus spends about half of the tournament trying to hide the fact that he’s gay, which is especially hard when he knows he’s falling for his fellow competitor, lance. he is outed at one point, but is relieved to find that most of the other knights don’t care. lance is eventually revealed to return his feelings.
