Saltyshade is a brown she-cat with red patches and dark red accents. She has long... hair? fur? emo bangs? that falls over one of her eyes and sock like markings up her legs. Her eyes are dark green, and her inner ears and paws are light green. She has medium length fur, which is thick, soft and rather straight. She's often drawn with a green stripy scarf. When she's drawn as an anthro, she usually has clothes on just because I like the Beastars aesthetic, but not always especially when it's a more animalistic or chibi style.
- Her hair is always magically facing away from the viewer.
- She can be drawn as feral or anthro, but note her design is slightly different between the two.
- Her tail is super long and flowy.
- If she is drawn as anthro, she can have fingers or paws and plantigrade or digitigrade legs. It doesn't matter.
- She often wears a scarf, and if she is drawn anthro I would prefer if she was wearing clothes.
Saltyshade’s funny, sarcastic but generally kind and all around pretty cool. She likes helping people, but she’s also kinda lazy and doesn’t get stuff done on time. Outside of the warriors universe, she’s also an artist. She’s not the best at art, and she knows it, but she prefers to be confident over insecure. Salty's not afraid to make fun of herself for a joke, and she tends to put on a super happy face no matter how she feels inside. Because of this, she has a tendancy to break down.
She is also relatively smart, and good at strategising, though she doesn't enjoy this as much as the more creative things. She's the kind of person who would absolutely destroy you in a strategy based game unless there's any pressure on her to win.
- FROGS!! Not to eat, she just thinks they're really neat.
- Don't tell anyone but fish tasty as heck.
- She loves the colour green.
- Salty finds learning about other cultures or groups really interesting.
- She really enjoys anything artistic, so she often uses mud and similar stuff to paint rocks and things with her paws.
- Salty absolutely cannot stand the heat.
- Centipedes. She hates centipedes.
- She hates the way the clans treat outsiders, which is part of why she likes skyclan so much.
- Kittypet food. Don't ask how she got it, the point is it's bad.
- Certain flowers on skyclan territory - they make her sleepy.
Saltyshade is my sona, so in most of my drawings of her she’s just a representation of me. However, she does have a story. Essentially she was born in ShadowClan, and trained as a medicine cat for almost 9 moons before she left due to feeling like an outsider in her own clan.
Unsure of where to go, she wound up meeting a Skyclan apprentice around her age called Emberpaw at the clan's outer boarder. He explained that he had been held back from his warrior ceremony multiple times due to bullying within his clan, and that he was leaving because he felt like he wasn't welcome in his clan. Saltypaw felt a sense of kinship with the tom, and the two travelled together for a while.
After a while of living as rouges, the pair started to wish they had the company of a clan. Not wanting their friendship to suffer, Saltypaw decided to come to Skyclan with Emberpaw. There she and him were allowed to finish their apprenticeships as warriors. It took a while for Saltypaw to get used to not being vital in the clan, but eventually she settled in and earned her warrior name, Saltyshade, along with Emberflight.
- NOMENCLATURE
- Prefix Her mom was a rouge from sundrown place, so "Salty" references the sea.
- Suffix "shade" represents her Shadowclan roots.
- Despite her current status as a warrior, she still sometimes helps out the medicine cats.
- There are some cats, especially in other clans, who don't think Salty belongs in Skyclan, but she tries not to let this get to her.
- She tends to sleep in and stay up late at night due to how she used to operate in Shadowclan.
- My first post featuring her was made on the 3rd of August 2019, but she was created long before that.
Emberflight is Saltyshade's best friend to the end, her ride or die if you will. She cares a ton about him and they've had a fair amount of adventures together. They would absolutely cover up a murder for each other.
Spiderstripe and Salty met as young warriors and immediately hit it off! being from Riverclan and Skyclan respectively, their clans had no issue with them being together and they had a really nice relationship. Eventually, Spiderstripe broke it off due to wanting to work on her job as a mentor, but they're still friends to this day.
Blossompaw is Salty's apprentice! She's basically Blossompaw's idol and the two are super close - she'd absolutely kill for the kid. As Blossompaw is Saltyshade's first apprentice, she's super determined to be a good mentor for her and she took to mentoring quite well.
