Ciera was born and raised on Sun Kissed Island, a lush and somewhat hidden slice of paradise in the Water Continent. She became quick childhood friends with a water and fairy type Oshawott named Diego. Once the pair evolved into a Pikachu and Dewott they decided it was high time to join the islands local Expedition Society, Team Paradise. They were given small tasks at first, such as guard duty and running errands throughout Sun Kissed Island. Their jobs were few and far between but the duo was happy to help wherever they could. Once they proved themselves Ciera and Diego were eligible to go on exploration missions, going to a place that has already been found and discovering more of it's features and landscape.

One day on their way to discover more of the Mystery Continent they stumbled upon a land that was unmarked on their maps. Excited at the prospect of discovering the undiscovered they set off to run around the island. They found a rather large cave and decided to venture further, eventually triggering a minor cave collapse. The two were separated and Ciera went for days without food, water, and light. Losing her sanity and will to go on she was about to give up when she heard the slight trickling of water. She chased the sound of rushing water blindly as she called out for Diego, eventually hearing him call back and they followed the sound of each other's voice. Once reunited in the cave they followed the water to a small exit in the cave which created a waterfall, Ciera and Diego were finally free.

'That incident haunted the pair since then, Ciera especially. She refused to take jobs for a long time before Diego persuaded her. They gave up exploring since then and took jobs to save other Pokémon instead. They continue to live their lives, but the island they were stuck on was never identified. Although they don't mention it, Ciera and Diego both think of it from time to time...
