- At one point had a twin named Alex.
- They both had an accident. Alex was more damaged than Andy. To save money on repairs, Alex ended up being scrapped to salvage parts to repair Andy.
- Andy forever mourns Alex. Because of this, They tend to hallucinate about their twin sibling, distracting them from work.
- Old owner had enough of "this nutjob, whiny engine" and scheduled them to be scrapped, but Sir Topham Hatt bought them at the last minute.
- Was initially assigned to Brendam branch line. Big mistake.
- Constantly seeing Sodor's other twins (Bill and Ben, Donald and Douglas) made them mourn their own twin even more.
