Theo

"Avernus waits for me."

Theo has a complicated past. He ran away from his Pride as he disagrees with his mother and fathers expectations of him. His mother is an Archdevil and wants him to fight by her side in the Bloor War in Avernus. His father Infernus, was the old leader of the Pyrewing Pride and wants Theo to come back to fulfill his duty. He rejects that life and hides in the Prime Material Plane, changing towns every now and then.

After running away from his battle obsessed family and friends, he went to fight at a Gladiator arena for money. He's a bit of a showman, and loves showing off in the arena. Despite such a cursed past he has a happy exterior and genuinely cares for his rivals. However whenever he gains too much of a reputation, he leaves and looks for another gladiator's ring. He couldn't risk being discovered by his Pride again. And so, he settles in a town until he has to uproot his life again to run and has been doing that ever since.

Theo values friendship, free will and mercy. He still does love and thrive in combat, but he does not want to throw his life away for a war that he has no buisness in. He loves the Prime Material Plane and the relationships he's made there. He hasn't told anyone the ciurcumstances of his past, but he does worry about acidentally getting people he cared about involved or used against him.

Background

Theo is the offspring of Zariel and a Leonin warrior that challenged her in battle and proved himself a worthy foe. Theo's father Infernus of the Pyrewing Pride was the leader of the Pride. He lead his pride with Zariels ideals and worshipped her. He had his Pride constantly sparring each other and collecting rivals. They valued combat above everything.

His mother, Zariel, was a warmonger obsessed with battle, someone who lived to fight and judged others on their combat skills and willingness to use them. She prized zealous fury as much as discipline and training, and led her troops into battle herself with iron resolve, leaving many a structure in ruin as she carved her war path. However, neither her own battle prowess nor that of her forces could disguise the fact that Zariel was reckless and rash, relying on her troops' berserker rage and her own determination to win her fights.

The Pyrewing Pride was banned from Oreskos for their Zariel worship but Infernus denied being affiliated with Zariel cultists as Infernus saw cultists as weak parasites to Zariel's strength. He valued his pride as more than grunts. Infernus left Oreskos with some of his followers as a rogue pride and began wandering the land, forever hungry for combat, ambitious to prove themselves to Zariel.

Eventually word of a bloodthirsty pride met the ears of a tiger headed Rakshasa who staffed the BloodArena, a devastating Gladiators arena. The Rakshasa became the Pride's "manager" in a way. The pride consistently brought gold and the Rakshasa brought them foes.

Overtime Infernus managed to gain the attention of Zariel herself. She watched him truely shine in combat and Infernus lead his pride through many battles. Eventually after a victory in the ring, she summoned numerous demons into the BloodArena. Infernus roared summoning his family, the pride slicing through anyone who stood in their way. The battle lasted several hours and at the end, Infernus shood on a pile of corpses where Zariel appeared before him.

Zariel took the strongest members of the Pyrewing Pride to Avernus where they became leading soldiers for the Blood War. There, Theo was born on the surface of the first circle of hell as Zariel did not stop fighting demons during her pregnancy. Theo was sent to the Material Plane to live as a cub, where he was raised by the remaining Pyrewing Pride, still loyal to Infernus and Zariel. Theo was told he will be summed by Zariel when he is ready, but he denies his responcibility. One night, he ran away and escaped the cult. And has been on the run ever since.

Theo debates if Zariel truly cared for his father or if she was just desperate for more soldiers for the never ending Blood War in Avernus. Did she want to create he perfect soldiers? Or maybe she wanted a champion. Perhaps she did have a flicker of good left in her as she was an angel of celeste. Despite her flaws, her conviction in the overall righteousness of her actions was not invincible, and if properly confronted it was possible for the small sparks of good within her to emerge once more. Theo forever contemplates. Would he even consider changing his mind and returning to his family? If he went back to Avernus he'd spend the rest of his life in bloodshed. Is that a life worth living where you fight your whole life until one day, you surely surely die on the battlefield.
