Mercury is compulsively defensive towards his brother, treating him with a lot of disdain. He devalues Ares's intelligence and sees him as little more than an animal bred to fight, and as a result is adamant that he should be put down. He definitely knows he shouldn't treat Ares this way and does have some tenderness in his heart for his brother, considering how they protect eachother at all costs, but often forgets to voice this. Ares will claim he does not care for his brother, but reacts very strangely when Mercury is at risk.
Mercury has a very dry personality, he often sounds like he's on the verge of tears. He is a very factually compelled person and cares little about emotion or morals, which make him fucking intolerable to interact with. He is cranky but does enjoy company, if only so that he can talk their ears off about how their worldview is wrong and his is correct.
