Profile

  • Met him when she first got to the satellite
  • She was in a rough state and was obviously not prepared for her crossing over
  • By this means she’d been about mugged, her hair was a mess, cut off in places, and she was just in a bad way
  • Didn’t tell anyone the truth of where she came from
  • Yusei and the Squad :tm: took her in
  • Satisfaction showed her genuine kindness she wasn’t used to and it was life changing to her
  • She was too mild mannered to be left to her own devices but they helped her regain some of her spunk
  • Showed to have a very technical brain and got along with Yusei well as a result
  • He was genuinely worried about her and her well being and tried his best to get the truth of who she was and where she came from out of her
  • She refused
  • But it didn’t matter much bc he found out later
  • He promised he wouldn’t tell anyone
  • She expressed her fears of having to go back one day, but he assured her their friendship would transcend barriers and he’d be there for her when she needed him
  • Feelings were more than platonic on her end by that point
  • Couldn’t get a read on him unfortunately
  • Also, unfortunately, did end up getting dragged back home one day
  • She wanted to believe he’d keep his promise, someone would come for her, but as time passed, her hope faded.
  • Became envious and begrudged for her supposed abandonment. He had bigger friends to worry about in her eyes
  • Believed this thoroughly when she saw jack again
  • He knew her feelings and could tell that, despite the pain she was in, she still cared.
  • Always tried to keep her mind off the subject
  • Except when the Fortune Cup came she had to face facts
  • She ran into him several times but wouldn’t say anything and brushed by most times
  • Until he finally cornered her and had her sit for a moment, even if she wouldn’t talk
  • She cared but she was still angry in her own way
  • Eventually told him “You can’t save everyone Yusei. Just forget about me. I’m doomed, like so many others. So you should forget about me. Just like before. Just like so many others.
  • He didn’t get a chance to respond before she took off
  • This anger eventually fed her into her Dark Signer ways
  • She died of smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at her house. She couldn’t get out so she laid down and took it, hoping things would be better after
  • Pelican lines said no, you’re angry we use that
  • Eventually came face to face with him (idk if she duels him or someone else duels her or what yet but hes probably there)
  • She admits to her reservations and angers, expressing that she was meant to be forgotten and betrayed just as he had done to her, screaming for answers why no one came for her, why she was left to suffer in silence while so many others were deserving of love.
  • Reminds her of what she herself used to say “We’re all under one sky.” Their friendship transcended their separation.
  • She felt like a fool, aware that he had no power over the situation and she was selfish, but he assured her she didn’t have to apologize, bc it wasn’t fair to either of them
  • In return, she told him she couldn’t change the past, but she could give them a future, and sacrificed herself in the end
  • Waddled away slightly after the duel before collapsing on the ground once more
  • He cradled her and she apologized, and assured him that, despite her fears, she had always cared and always loved him. She just wished she could have done more to help in the end, to protect everything and to have been there for all the important moments, him expressing the same, and promising that he’d save her next time, for real, before she faded away, saying “see you on the other side.”
  • Eventually woke up with everyone else. Only, she had memories of everything that had happened, except, conveniently, her last few moments, including love confession
  • True to his promise Yusei and the others got her out of her home and into a new one, on her own (or with someone)
  • Life went on from there only now he knew how she felt and this where awkward lovely moments start to happen
  • Idk where I’m going with this

----

  • Have a very trust heavy relationship
  • Hisayo doesn’t trust a lot of people but he helps open that door for her
  • Yusei just overall loves his friends a lot
  • Was always very careful with Hisayo due to her trust in him and her evident need of help
  • Even when she insisted on not wanted his help or company, her persisted
  • Ended up saving her life more than once
  • And catching her from collapsing a few times
  • Was the one to get her out of her bad home situation
  • He helped Ryota settle her into a new home
  • And constantly was checking up on her
  • Was one of the few aware that she also recalled her time as a dark signer, and was still very remorseful over things she had done
  • He sat with her through nightmares more than once
  • Came to realize their feelings after one such night
  • Grandmas was persistent in seeing them together
  • What made this friendship and connection different? They weren’t sure but they gave it a shot regardless
  • Not always the most evident of couples but they have their moments
  • Most of their affection is reserved for their own privacy
  • Though it’s evident from small touches and cares that they are a lot for one another

HOW?

How did they meet?

The pair initially met when Hisayo first escaped to the Satellite. He and his friends saved her from a rather brutal assault, eventually bringing her in and giving her a place to call home.

How old were they?

Both were somewhere in their early teen years at the time. (Theres a very vague timeline lol)

How long did it take for them to become “official”?

It took years of the pair knowing one another. This is especially due to Hisayo’s disappearance from the Satellite some years before the Fortune Cup and a rather rough reintroduction. However, sometime into the WRGP, the pair were able to sort out their feelings.

How did they each react to the first move made?

Officially or unofficially? Because in all technicalities, Hisayo made the first move. Before passing on after losing her duel as a Dark Signer, she took the last moments she had as herself to speak with Yusei as he held her fading body. She apologized to him once more, and thanked him for all he had done for her, admitting she had hoped to lose, not willing to see the man she loved fall into darkness, and was proud of him. This was the only part of her time as a Dark Signer that Hisayo conveniently didn’t recall. However, Yusei did, and had unsure feelings about it at the time.

After this, Yusei had to be the one to move in first. Hisayo’s personality just made it too hard for her to even dream of doing it. It started as subtle gestures that Hisayo herself tried not to read too much into, hand holds, hugs in times of need and the like. The true test came after assisting Hisayo’s grandmother with what seemed like a wild goose chase for her “anniversary” which turned out to be tried and true as she celebrated it at her late husband grave. She had recruited Hisayo and Yusei’s help, hoping to get them to open up a bit more with one another, and finding success in the pair’s reaction to her preparations. While watching Hisayo’s grandmother give her thanks, Yusei took Hisayo’s hand, Hisayo not pulling away as quickly and shyly for the first time.

Later that night, Hisayo found herself wandering towards the city overlook as she typically did after a bad dream. Having been awake himself, Yusei followed her there to check to make sure she was okay. For once, she admitted, that it wasn’t the nightmares keeping her awake. He was there, and so she felt safe saying “With you, they’re always good dreams.” The pair began to reflect on all they had been through and the insanity of the day before, considering how much love transcended time, as in Hisayo’s grandparents. The found themselves simply conversing until morning about everything before deciding, upon seeing the sunrise, it would be a good idea to return for some level of rest. As the pair began to leave, Yusei gave into a moment of nostalgia and familiarity, turning quickly to grab and kiss Hisayo, pleased when the latter didn’t pull away. Hisayo was surprised but elated at the action, confessing she had wished to do that herself for so long. Jokingly, Yusei assured her he knew, referencing her last moments as a Dark Signer and sending Hisayo into an embarrassed mess, eliciting only am laugh from him.

The pair had another unofficial first moment back while Hisayo was in the Satellite, just the day before she was forced to leave. The pair confessed to mutual feelings for one another, and both were unsure of how to proceed, especially given Hisayo's insecurity when it came to forming bonds with others. However, he reassured her she'd be alright, and reminded her he'd be there for her when she needed him, the pair sharing their first kiss. Hisayo's sudden disapperance was earth-shattering for both of them, and they carried this first interactions with them for a very long time, treasuing it but also making it a bit strange upon their second meeting, as it left them unsure of how to proceed. It carried them through in the long run, however.

What were their first impressions of each other?

Upon their first meeting, Yusei was able to see Hisayo as someone who needed help, and plenty of it. She was clearly lost and unsure of herself and the world around her, and he wanted to give her a place to feel safe, and something to believe in. In return, Hisayo was at first suspicious of everyone’s intentions, Yusei included, given her past interactions, but soon found in him someone to rely on and put her faith in. He provided her with safety, something that was very new to her.

What made them interested in each other?

Yusei found himself interested in Hisayo’s spirit, wanting to help coax her out of her shell and help her conquer her fears, as he believed there was a strong and beautiful person waiting to erupt from her meek shell. As his time helping her went on, he began to admire the strength in her despite all she had faced, and was always interested in watching her grow and learning ne things about her

Likewise, Hisayo was drawn to Yusei due to his protective and caring personality, and considered him one of the first real friends she had ever had. His kindness did not feel fake or cloaked in intent, which was a new feeling to her, and kept her ever happy to be near him. He taught her a great deal about life and helped her to break out of her shell. She began to trust him enough to eventually tell him the truth about who she was (after he stumbled upon it of course.)

Even after Hisayo left, the pair never stopped thinking about one another, even if Hisayo began to find herself stewing in agony and feelings of abandonment. Even after her attempts to remain angry for feeling abandoned by Yusei and the others after being forced back home, it was evident she still cared for him, and he expressed equal return for her, treating her with the same kindly manners he had always treated her. He wanted to break her free once again, and would do whatever it took to save her from herself, especially after her transformation, driving her ability to break free from the darkness momentarily and beg him not to give up in his darker moments. His faith in her spirit and her admiration of his compassion kept the two caring for one another even in their worst moments.

WHO?

Who made the first move?

Technically Hisayo, but she doesn’t remember it and she was also dark and dead, so We’ll say Yusei in this case.

Who did they tell about their growing feelings?

Hisayo initially told Jack, as she had grown close to him after all was said and done once she arrived back in the city from the Satellite and she could not lie to him for one reason or another. Likewise, Ryota found herself more than aware of her friend’s feelings, and Crow found himself well aware not long after. Martha was also made aware not too long into Hisayo’s return from life. Plus there was Hisayo’s grandmother and Kaito. So a lot of people closest to Hisayo were aware of Hisayo’s feelings and most were good at hiding it from one another thankfully. She was actually good at hiding it, her friends just knew her too well. (Others probably knew too but--)

Yusei was a tougher nut to crack, but Ryota, Granny Amari and a couple others were able to get the truth of it out of him, well aware this was far from a one sided love obsession.

Who tried to get into their business or interrupt their growing relationship?

If anyone, it was likely Hisayo’s parents. They were not ready to give their daughter up and it took a lot of fighting to get them to allow her her freedom. This was not done out of malice, of course, but fear for their daughter’s safety and future. Hisayo also had some suitor problems, many of which unaware she was not actively seeking her inheritance and was likely not to get it at all. (There might have been some others)

Any obstacles? Literal or figuratively?

Hisayo being a run away

Parents

Not wanting to break a friendship

Concerned about others having feelings

Dark Signers

Hisayo’s own shame

Vanishing for years

There was plenty holding them back.

Who developed a crush first?

Definitely Hisayo. She found herself crushing back in Satellite days.

WHEN?

When did they start to tell their friends and family?

While they were aware of crushes and the like, Yusei and Hisayo did not choose to tell anyone about their involvement until towards the end of the WRGP. There was too much to focus on for them to be spreading anything around and were both fine with waiting for one another, believing it well worth the patience.

RELATIONSHIP?

What did they consider the 'status' of their relationship?

Once they establish their feelings? They’re dating, together, etc. They simply kept it low for a while, not wanting to distract from the tasks at hand. It’s evident the pair are crazy about one another, even if they aren’t the most PDA affiliated.

Do they tend to get along better than before they became “official”?

They got along about the same, simply with more levels of affection and attempts at openness and leaning on one another when it was needed.

What would they change about themselves to make their relationship better, if anything?

Hisayo wants to be more confident and sure of herself, often feeling like Yusei could do better for himself. She wants to be the brave and powerful person she thinks he deserves, but hes always reminded her she has her own strength. Yusei

If they were sad or angry, what would their partner do to help them?

Comfort is the name of the game for both of them. They’ve always been known to try and alleviate some of the stress off one another’s shoulders, encouraging or calming one another to the best of their abilities. Words play a powerful part in this, even if Hisayo can be a bit blunter about facts sometimes. Maintaining a calm and collected mood when the other is struggling is key to them, and often ends in tight hugs to calm and soothe.

Are they typically playful? Serious? Abusive? What type of relationship do they have with each other?

They’re generally pretty serious, a little playful. They’ve got a lot of other things to deal with in life but always find time to place importance on one another. They generally respect one another’s day to day life and realize it can’t always revolve around one another, but they make is so when it’s possible. They’re important to one another, and they make sure each other realizes this.

How do they act around each other? In public? Private?

In public, the two are pretty much the same as they had always been, looking good friend with the occasional romantic undertone. In private, they’re still pretty in control of themselves, but they aren’t as afraid to get up close and affectionate with one another.

Do they live together?

Around team 5Ds future, yes~. Everyone figuring out what they want to do with their lives made them realize where they too wanted to belong, and it was with one another. It was an interesting decision, as Hisayo had the opportunity to travel, and did leave for a short while. However, she came back before everyone else made their departures, deciding to help manage her Grandmother’s projects with her and to continue to teach in the city, allowing her closer to her loved ones in the process.

Do they have any nicknames for each other?

Not really? They don’t seem the type for that, though it might come every once in a while, if only in a teasing manner. Others might also force nicknames upon them.

WHAT'S THEIR FAVORITE ABOUT EACH OTHER?

Personality

Hisayo appreciates Yusei’s dedication to the people around him. She knows he’s always there when someone needs a boost, and she’s needed that a lot. Yusei find’s Hisayo’s inherent kindness despite all she’s been used for to be extremely admirable where other’s might call it foolish. This steadfastness about her gives him constant faith in her.

Physical

Hisayo is an arm sort of person when all is said and done. That and his eyes both just sort of set her off. Yusei has a weird appreciation for her freckles. They’re light and faded but give her this wishful innocent look about her he and many others find adorable.

Quirky Mannerism

Hisayo finds quirky little phrases that tend to pop out of his mouth in duels to be pretty endearing a lot of the time. Hisayo has this look she gets when she’s confused, which happens a lot for the first few months of being out in the real world, he finds really endearing.

____________________________

WHAT IS THEIR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT EACH OTHER?

Personality

Hisayo wishes Yusei would rely on people more often, and not put so much pressure on himself by taking on responsibilities that weren’t his own, such as zero-Reverse. She assured him that he could blame himself all he wanted, but it would never make what happened his doing. Yusei wishes Hisayo would do similar, hoping she would stop blaming herself for her past mistakes and allow her courage to shine through again.

Physical

There’s not really anything they particularly dislike about one another’s physical appearance. It’s too shallow a complaint for them.

Quirky Mannerism

Similarly, there’s not really any specific mannerism either of them dislikes of one another.

____________________________

OTHER

Do they enjoy teasing or picking on each other?

Sometimes but rarely. They both tend to be pretty serious, but they can both get flustered at points, Hisayo more so than Yusei, so you sometimes catch them teasing one another.

Are they sexually active? Is it a huge part of their relationship?

Eventually I’m sure, but I wouldn’t call it a “huge part.” It is part of it though.

Do they enjoy going out with friends or would they rather just stay with each other?

Friends are really valuable to both of them, so they do find themselves with friends a lot of the time. This doesn’t mean they don’t value what privacy they do take, however.

____________________________

FAMILY

Do they ever get married?

In the future, more than likely!

Do they have children?

Again, more than likely!

What is their favorite memory of their time together?

Hisayo considers the short time they spent together in the satellite to be one of her fondest memories, given it was the first time she had ever made real friends. Yusei felt the same, thankful to have met her so long ago.

Have either of them passed away yet? If so, how did the other handle the loss?

Hisayo did, once for real and then disappearing after losing as a Dark Signer. She came back, but dealing with the loss itself for Yusei both times was a lot to handle, especially upon learning about her death to the fire after having seemingly spoken to her days after.

Do their family/friends agree with their relationship? Do they care about their family/friends opinions?

Their friends openly support them, which was super important to them both, but Hisayo’s parents were the real struggle. Hisayo did not particularly care about her parents objections, but they eventually came around to everything, wanting to be better parents than they had been in the past.
