In life, Carter was a rather unfortunate soul, undue to external factors. He wasn't bullied, nor was he neglected, yet he felt abandoned and alone. He struggled to handle his depression, and so, he took what choice he thought was right. In death, he found himself meeting Death, speaking with her for a long time about the After. He chose to become a reaper, if only to give peace he never found.

Carter's specialty is with souls that went as he did, often allowing the souls to make one request of him to deliver unto the living. Some ask for messages to loved ones, others ask for revenge.
