Elias Bane

Elias could almost be summed up in a single word were he not flesh and blood, and that one description would be: Frigid. The King of the Cold, he always has an air of disdain and displeasure that permeates every molecule about him. Blue eyes are glaciers that judge and find almost all of humanity and celestial kind unworthy. Worthy for what? No one quite knows. All that is known is his great unhappiness and his unrest in the world. Anger seems a voracious black hole, pleasure seems impossible.
So what melts a King of the Cold?
Dechart is, perhaps, the only reason that he has any redeeming qualities. Well, Dechart and Granny. The man is close to so few, smiles so rarely, and seems a royal pain. However, he was raised with manners, and he was raised with a best friend. Granny taught him how to be polite, how to live, how to believe in a cause. Dechart taught him how to trust in at least one other and even, althought Elias would never go so far to say, how to love. He makes him soft and thoughtful, contemplative on the things that would possibly bring another happiness as uncommon as these events are.

Born and orphaned, childhood was a wreck. Elias was a beast of a boy who unlocked his powers just out of the cradle. They became his haven, his way of survival. They slayed any who came near - freezing them from the inside out, blood turning to ice.
He was a monster.
Then Granny came. She found him and she was unafraid. Frost could not touch her, an immortal in a mortal's skin, a Celestial who could regenerate from any age and wound. Granny saved him, took him under her wing. She raised him and around him a family grew. Granny brought in the strays, and they became their own underground organization. Evading authorities swiping celestials off the streets. At the center, Elias became their source of power, their fearless leader as he grew into a teenager and then young adult.
Beside him, his best friend came. Dechart was always there. Always smiling. Always trying to make Elias smile. They were less rare as a boy, but as he grew, as the red on his hands grew, his smile faded and a somber, hardened expression came from the ashes of boyhood.
Everything was fine until it was not. A mission gone bad, a mole, and then Elias was taken from the planet too. Swiped off the face of it and dropped in the Waste with the other crooks and Celestials to rot in an eternal hell.
