"Do you think moving all the furniture an inch to the left is chaotic enough?"
adorable • naive • mischievous
A lot of people may not notice the true intelligence of Amaya Glave due to their sheer cuteness, however it may be more difficult not to notice the fact they were raised by a blatant cultist.
They may not do well in some of their classes, but this is not for lack of serious note-taking - simply a lack of skill in those fields.
Their heritage as a Naiad, a freshwater nymph, gives them a strange ability to control the weather.
Adopted by Henir Glave
One fateful day 16 years ago, doomsday cultist by the name of Henir Glave found a young baby by the riverbank. He named them after the weather - it had been a miserable night, raining and cold, but it seemed quite peaceful and fitting now that he held the small child in his arms. Wrapping them in his cloak, he brought them home, and from then on he raised the child as his own. Experiencing the highs and lows of parenting a small child from a babe to a teenager, he loved them as best as he could. You wouldn't expect the leader of one of the sects of the Henir Order to make a good father, but he raised his child well - with good morals, a kind, happy smile and bright eyes, and plenty of access to freshwater swimming as their fins grew in.
Yes, Henir is the best father Amaya could've ever asked for. And no matter what anyone said, he adored his baby more than life itself.
Meaning of the name Amaya; "Night Rain"

What's next?
What others may not have had the foresight to check beforehand is going to bite them, but Amaya has always been naturally curious so it was only a matter of time until they discovered the true nature of most babies left at riversides - since mer are typically saltwater, it was inevitable for them to realise the truth. Although being a beautiful freshwater nymph, naturally beloved, worshipped, youthful, may be a dream come true for many, Amaya was filled with dread. Does this mean that their friendships, all of their hard-won bonds with everyone they know, will become tainted with the charm ability they'd read between the lines of that accursed book, never to truly, really care for them again? If only they hadn't read it, they could've lived in blissful ignorance. Instead, Amaya checks their eyes each morning to check they haven't turned gold, and hides a mask in their bedside drawer, gnawing on their fingernails as they watch each birthday slip closer and closer.
What would be an inevitable, natural part of growing older has become a point of severe stress for young Amaya, to the point of causing them to consider finding a nice freshwater pond to dive into and never come out of.
A charmer is inherently narcissistic and blind to the will of others, once their ability has manifested, and nymphs seem to be the worst of them - not charming for prey or to continue their species, but to claim those they find enjoyable and keep them forever. It almost seems to be a natural side-effect. Amaya is terrified they'll end up just like that. Will their friends and family be able to draw out the source of this shame and stress from the young guppy and find a solution to soothe their fears before everything goes horribly wrong?
