Wren is a changeling raised as a human. After running away from home after an... incident (her mom kind of panicked after seeing her as bug, and wren panicked when her mom panicked, and then things just got weird between them sooo....), she holed up in a shack she made in a scrapyard where she gets by repairing people's various broken things.
Of course, she is a fae trying very hard to be human (even if she just recently found out about the fae part), so she's bound to get caught up in weird magical shenanigans. She's capable of creating various magical gadgets or doohickeys to help out though- she managed to get a friend's help to build a freeze ray out of a couple of minifridges once, and of course there's her mechanical cricket friend Reginald.
She's an unusual kind of fae whose true form is a monstrous bug person, in her case a cricket. Most of the changelings of this type can shift back and forth between their humanish or bug forms but Wren got exposed to Cold Iron at a young age that kind of threw it out of whack. She's got wings, persistent antennae and a second set of round buggy eyes on her forehead (usually hidden under a pair of goggles) but depending on how well she's suppressing her Bugform she can look anywhere from mostly human with antennae and the eyes to a six foot tall cricket person with four arms, a bit of a buggy abdomen, a weird split lower jaw that looks like a bug's mouth, and covered head to toe in a carapace.
She loves:
-Technology and machines! The way it all fits together and clicks and clacks and whirs and just generally makes all sorts of extremely good noises. She routinely builds stuff out of whatever discarded appliances or whatever she can find. Fixes stuff up too!
-her cricket, Reginald! She made him so she had a friend while living in the scrapyard. He functions as a multitool that can do pretty much anything most small tools can. He's also sapient and extremely concerned about Wren's diet (which mostly consists of canned noodles ordered in bulk)
-bugs! Wren's the kind of person to see a spider and start talking to it like most people would a cat.
-her girlfriend, Sam, who is someone else's character and has a cat that eats ghosts.
