About

Yù Tù, called "Jade" at school, is a Chinese Moon Rabbit. She was sentenced to a high school life as punishment for being too generous with her alchemic healing potions: Jade would heal any human, and was threatening the balance of life and death.

As a High Schooler, Jade is as quiet and shy as you might expect from a rabbit. She loves chemistry and takes great interest in sick or dying humans, but is annoyed with the fact she is no longer permitted to help them. She speaks very formally, having once been employeed by the Moon Goddess herself, and has a button of pride from that experience.

Story Summary

In the Moon Kingdom, everything is perfect. There is no pain, no fighting, and no suffering to speak of. This comes at the cost of there being just about nothing in the Moon Kingdom. The Moon People are like dolls: Beautiful, Perfect, and Not Suffering… but also, not happy. Just as they feel no negative, the Moon People feel no positive.

As a Moon Rabbit, Yu Tu was tasked with helping to maintain this perfect. It was Moon Rabbits, who act as alchemists in this world, who brought it to its current state. Yu Tu was among many who brewed potions that cured everything, by taking negating everything to "neutral."

This changed when Yu Tu learned to be Curious. Moon Rabbits were not meant to be Curious. They were meant to make the same brews, over and over, because they were perfect. But Yu Tu wanted to make new brews. Eventually, the little Moon Rabbit was caught and banished from the kingdom, lest her ailment spread.

As an immortal, it would be very hard to punish Yu Tu. The general solution was to sentence an immortal to a temporary mortal existence. Because of how young she appeared, Yu Tu was chained to a mortal school. She started in Elementary school and had to live a mortal life until she was 25, graduating accordingly along the way.

This wasn't really punishment. It felt like a reward. "Jade" was enthralled by science and learning. She became a fantastic student, simply because she loved giving in to curiosity. Jade secretly made all kinds of magical potions and would sell them to fellow immortals, happy to extend her sentencing if she got caught.

When High School started, Jade ran into an unexpected surprise. The Princess of the Moon had been banished to Earth as well. Jade felt very badly for Saki, who was overwhelmed by emotions for the first time. Her loyalty to the Moon Kingdom kicked in, driving her to serve and help her Fallen Princess as much as possible.

Relationships

Saki Shiroyume [ the fallen moon princess ] Saki is the Princess of the Moon. With that title came religious responsibilities to the Moon Goddess, whom Jade once served. Jade was therefore responsible to making Saki medicines and keeping the Princess young, beautiful, and healthy. She had a healthy respect for her and was awed by Saki's beauty.This changed when Saki fell. The Princess is now tainted by the greatest sin of all: Love and emotions. Jade still serves Saki, but understands the young Princess can never return to the moon. She makes potions to help Saki maintain her youthful appearance and ointments for her damaged skin.
