Grin is the creation of Portnoy Feluine, a Russian-German tailor and toymaker, who wished to have a child with his wife Vedma, but she could not produce children. Because there were no adoption centers close to them, he instead took it upon himself to create one using his skills in sewing toys and clothing. He intensively studied human anatomy and child psychology and soon set to work, in the hopes of having an artificial child that both he and Vedma could enjoy. Portnoy kept this project under wraps for some years, purely to surprise his wife.
Several rejected ragdolls were created over fifteen years of work, all of which had remained stored in a locked closet, so that Portnoy may use them to study any errors he may have made. His work would improve drastically over time, and soon enough, Grin's creation became his passion project; he even included artificial organs and blood for authenticity. Eventually however, Vedma would catch wind of this project around the time of Grin's completion and angrily insisted Portnoy terminate the project altogether. Outright insulted by this suggestion, Portnoy refused.
Weeks later, to spite him, Vedma stuffed Grin's dormant body into an old sack of laundry and traveled far from home and to the woods. She dumped the sack into the woods mere hours before Grin's awakening, effectively leaving them for dead. Despite these circumstances, Grin survived, but lived without the company of their parents. |
