Personality

Makoto is a rogue scientist who, although mostly on the fringes of the academic science community, is taking great strides to advance the ability of human beings to travel through space. She lives on the support of her hometown, traveling from remote lab to remote lab in her chain of residences and researching how to defeat divine authority with the science of humans. She is friendly and knows how to convince people to fund her, but she can also be off-puttingly obsessed with her calling. She is curious to a fault but knows when to silence her questions and allow herself to observe the course of events. She's the type of person who has hundreds of friends but very few close connections.

Appearance

Biography

Makoto was raised in a rural but technologically advanced community that placed great emphasis on the archaeologically-founded history of their people. She got a doctorate in astrophysics but ran into a barrier when she discovered that, contrary to popular belief, humanity had not, in fact, made it to space. The was an invisible barrier surrounded the planet that people got trapped into while a web of illusions placated them. Makoto swore to use her knowledge of physics to combat the perpetrator of this, Lord Moon, and has been working on it ever since. Since her crackpot theory of divine interference isn't widely accepted, her research in funded by a network of community members from her hometown, conspiracy theorists, and interested patrons.
