Fatal Flaw
Grudge -Val is someone who finds it hard to move past resentment, and will hold onto grudges for years to come. With those grudges comes a need for revenge which can sometimes be so powerful it drives her to put even herself in serious danger.
Powers
Mystiokinesis - Hex
Being a daughter of Hecate, Valerie is able to cast magic as well, but the spells she can cast are limited right now. Hex is a spell that when casted on a target, wraps dark shadows around the target. It slowly damages the target over time, bringing debilitating pain with it.
Mystiokinesis - Telekinesis
When the spell is casted Val can move or manipulate creatures or objects by thought.
Mist Control
Val is able to control the mist and create illusions with this control. She is currently able to cast illusions that are attached to living beings or objects, like making a car look like a rhino. Smaller illusions (like changing someone’s haircolor) are harder to see through.
Story
The Before
Val came from a long lineage of clear sighted mortals, mostly women who had embraced this sight and practiced old traditions passed down through generations. They believed in the power of spells and witchcraft and long held onto their traditions. Valerie’s grandmother, Rue, was no exception and upheld these traditions strongly in her life. It was Rue who had met Hecate first, able to see through the mist, which caught Hecate’s eye. While it wasn’t strong, Hecate appreciated the mortal’s woman dedication and prayers and would often stop by every decade or so and the two would chat and share some herbal tea, though Rue was unaware that she had actually befriended a goddess.
And while Rue and her mother, and her mother’s mother and so forth held tightly to their traditions, it was her only child, her son, that shunned these practices. He even pretended to lose his clear sight as a teen, even though his clear sight was stronger than any previous generation. It disheartened Rue that her child turned away from these traditions, and also fell for his deceptions that he was not able to see through the mist. She often confided with Hecate that maybe he would have a child that she could once more share these practices with.
One night, while Rue and Hecate were having a conversation, her son came through and he saw a beautiful woman sitting across from his mother. He had no idea that the goddess was using the mist to make herself look like an old woman, and began to flirt with the goddess. It was then that the goddess realized how strong his clear sight was and became interested in the man. It was not long after that Hecate gifted him their daughter.
Childhood + Camp
Val and her father did not have a great relationship. He felt he was given a curse, trying to live his life blissfully unaware of whatever the mist was hiding from regular mortals, and now he was given something that made it impossible. He wanted nothing to do with it, and he most certainly was not ready to raise a child. It was Rue who really took care of Val since she was a baby, and for Val, her grandmother was her world. Rue shared years of traditions with Val, and Val took everything her grandmother taught her to heart. But it didn’t last as her grandmother had passed when Val was 8 years old.
The things Val had learned, the things she seemed to be able to do scared her father, and when Val was 9 years old he dropped her off at Camp Half-Blood and never came back. She tried writing letters, but with no response, Val gave up and began her childhood in her new home. She didn’t accept what happened easily, and instead felt a lot of rage and resentment build up as she grew older, and was not the nicest kid to be around at camp. Using a crafted telekinesis spell to lift a much older Ares kid to embarrass them, Val was claimed by Hecate, after a month of being at camp. However, her claiming did not soothe Val’s resentments.
Growing up at camp was pretty mundane, but she amused herself by pranking other campers (like filling the sleeping Apollo cabin with illusion snakes and real snakes). She did a few quests and practiced her skills. When she was 17, she went on a quest with her two close friends, Zach, a son of Zeus, and their friend, who ended up dying during the quest. Even though the quest was a success, the loss of a friend weighed heavily on the two of them, and it made camp life hard for her. They had spent so much time talking about what they were going to do together after camp, but now that their friend was gone, everything felt pointless. Val left camp in the dead of the night not long after the summer ended, right before she would turn 18. On her way out, she bumped into Zach, who was also leaving, and the two traveled with each other for a bit before parting ways.
After Camp
While the two were traveling, Zach and Val went to Georgia so Valerie could see her father, who she had not seen since she was 9. She was not sure where to go so she decided to start first at her childhood home. There was her father with a family, a wife and two young children. She was using the mist to disguise herself, but her father easily saw through it and knew exactly who she was. When his new wife asked what it was that he was staring at, he replied with a “It’s nothing.” Val left, knowing there would be nothing between them ever.
The two demigods eventually parted ways (but kept in close contact still) and Valerie made her way to LA to work as a stylist for her friend, a daughter of Apollo, and her touring band. Val used her ability to manipulate the mist to change up the band member’s looks, like their hair without causing actual damage to the hair. The band’s ever changing looks caught Val some attention and she began to pick up more work as a stylist for other celebs. It was not the path Val expected, but she enjoyed it.
She was constantly traveling with the band, and was thrusted into a very different lifestyle compared to her life growing up in camp. There were parties, drugs, hookups, you name it. It was fast paced but Val lived for it. Life was a roller coaster and Val was in the front car. It wasn’t always the healthiest life, but it served Val well so she didn’t have to actually deal with anything bad that happened to her. But the burnout caught up to her. With some persuasion from friends, Val left to find something more calm. And for a few years she stayed in a small house, deep within the woods, away from civilization. She spent her time studying her magic, and getting back into the traditions her grandmother taught her.
However, despite what she assumed was a safe haven, she became a target. A monster, a sphynx she had killed long ago during a quest, recognized the scent of the Hecate child and hunted her down. Val was attacked in her sanctuary, and while she survived, Val was a little spooked. She spoke about the incident with Zach, who showed up the next day on her doorstep, a letter about Arcadia clutched in his hand.
The two began the cross country move to Arcadia, which brought about a lot of feelings between the two. Middle of the trip, an argument broke out, Val accusing Zach that he didn’t think Val was strong enough to protect herself. And in turn Zach said he just wanted to protect the woman he loved. Val was dumbstruck by the confession, thinking all this time that maybe her feelings were just one sided. The rest of the car trip was much calmer, the two reconciling and now navigating new feelings. They finished the move to Arcadia and have been living together at Arcadia for 1 year now.

Inventory
A celestial bronze kopis, that in its mist form appears as a bronze metal bookmark that is stored in Val's spellbook. A sword known for it's unique curved blade, better for chopping motions similiar to an axe.
Val's spellbook which contains her spells and potion recipes. Inside is a spread of special runes and writing, a spell gifted to Valerie by Hecate herself. When opened to the pages that contain the spell a black portal appears that leads to a magical dimension where Val can store items. When she needs to recall what she has put in, she sticks her hand in and call to mind what she would like to pull out. She can also shake it upside down and random things that are stored inside will fall out. When the book is not in use, it turns into a small tiny book charm on a cord that Val can wear as a necklace or a bracelet. It cannot store living creatures.
Val's most beloved item, a necklace that had onced belonged to her grandmother. Inside is a picture of her grandmother with Val's grandfather (whom had passed before Val was born).
