Profile

Butterfly Nicole Averell. A Demon Mode separated from her host. Emotion is "butterflies-in-stomach". Wasn't really given a name, but the others called her "Butterfly" sometimes. So, when asked for her name, that's what she said. Wears a necklace that has the letter 'B' on it. Her ears are droopy and can't be lifted up all the way. Wings appear 2-D and have many holes in them. She can make them appear and fade as she wishes, but cannot fly with them. She has a large tattoo of swirls and butterflies up her left arm, shoulder, side of her neck, and a little bit on her ear. Arms are furry, feet have feathering. Hands and fingers are very similar to a bug's paw. She has the ability to teleport, but it's easier to call up if she's in emotional distress. Later on, she starts practicing it, but it typically takes her a different direction than she wanted or a little bit too far or something. Gets married to Moore. Because she's a mode, she can kick major butt, but she doesn't like to if she doesn't have to. Although it's somewhat muted, she always has the nervous feeling of her trigger emotion following her around. At certain times, like if she has to go in front of people, it'll flare up and get really bad. Date is correct

She was removed professionally and then placed in a facility with the intention of working other emotions into her. After months, the tests had just seemed to start working when there was a breach. The anger-based modes had broken free of the building, destroying the walls and allowing all the others to escape as well. They rallied a crowd to attack the town that had put them there, thinking that it was a prison. Butterfly didn't really understand their talk of taking over, but she was swept on by the charging mob. After a day or two, the city they were attacking was doing everything it could to continue to exist. Butterfly didn't want to fight anyone, so her time was spent walking the burning streets and trying to avoid being attacked. She looked for a way out, but couldn't seem to escape the maze. Eventually, she curled up in a sheltered ally and decided that she was going to cry because she was scared and tired. Meanwhile, Moore had been lured to the city, as it was an easy target for crime in such chaos. For a little bit, he could get whatever he wanted, but that ended when he bumped into a group of rage-related modes. They didn't seem to care who he was, they simply wanted him dead. He deemed it idiotic to fight the small gang and instead turned tail and ran. They chased him, killing or injuring anyone who got in the way. After running for a while, he spotted what looked to be a safe ally to duck into. What he didn't realize was that part of a building had collapsed, making it a dead end. There was also a crying girl in it which would attract attention. Not seeing many other options, Moore tried to hide in the small alcove and also get this girl to shut her face. The modes outside walked by slowly and hesitantly. Clearly, they didn't think their target was far off. Still, there was a moment where they sounded as if they'd wandered past. Moore scarcely had started to lower his guard when there was a screech and a burning torch was thrown into the ally. Unfortunately, a merchant or some such had taken shelter here before, so the area was covered in tarps, blankets, and other flammable material. Panicked, Butterfly tried to shove herself backwards, knocking over one of the several lidded pots in the ally. It toppled and spilled a clear, reflective liquid everywhere, which quickly made the blaze worse. They two of them were now fully cornered and could see the modes watching from outside, ready with weapons if they managed to escape. The other pots ruptured with flames and smoke filled the air. Moore was trying to search for some form of escape, but Butterfly was near hysterics. She didn't know she had the ability, but the emotional overload caused her to teleport. Due to being in contact with her, Moore was also ported away from the now much angrier modes. They ended up in a very dense forest that neither of them recognized. Not even the smoke from the city was in the sky to guide them. Moore never really offered to help her, but when he picked a direction to wander in with an exasperated sigh, she quickly followed him. Since she had technically saved him from burning alive, he eventually convinced himself that he should probably wait for her when he got too far ahead. The couple of them were more hopelessly lost than they thought and spent multiple days trying to survive in the middle of nowhere. Danger didn't seem to want to leave them alone and they constantly ran into problems. After a few weeks, Dieter finally got worried enough to track them down (with a special animal or something). After finding them, he brought them both back to the house. The family members were clearly worried that Butterfly would "talk", but about what, she didn't know. She just hoped this place was actually safe and she could have a break. They were prompted to tell the others what had happened to them and after quite a bit of talking, Dieter came to the conclusion that Moore owed it to her to let her stay for a while - until she got on her feet. What Butterfly didn't know was that they had no idea what to do with her yet and this was a plan to buy time. So, she stayed. More urgent issues surfaced and Butterfly was sort of pushed onto the back burner. Over time, she began to get acquainted with the large family and slowly learn what they were up to, but she found herself not bothered by it. When she had been part of a whole Demon, she had witnessed many a crime. Soon, though, she started to get cooped up. Moore was assigned to the task of taking her out to do...stuff. Dieter didn't care what it was, but he didn't think she should be bored to death while she was a hostage, er...guest. Moore was clearly annoyed with this, as he was unable to participate in much of the family's activity, but did as he was instructed. Butterfly's stay became much more permanent than anyone intended. Most of the family members were comfortable with her after being there for a year or two, especially Moore, who spend the most time with her. Some of his siblings started wanting to take her out to do things, but he always got irritable when this happened. Butterfly was blissfully ignorant and simply enjoyed getting out of the house. Dax had taken to a large bookstore just to compete for attention and annoy the fire out of his brother. Butterfly always loved going there and would look for books where the writers described emotions in intricate detail. She hoped that this would help her develop as she had been doing at the facility. Dax put the thought in her head that Moore was in love with her just to see what would happen out of morbid curiosity, which steered her towards books about romance. She started paying closer attention to the way Moore acted, trying to match him up with the things he had read, all the while asking Dax to take her to the bookstore more and more (despite Moore insisting her could take her there just fine as well). After obtaining quite the personal library, Butterfly came to a conclusion. She confronted Moore directly about the issue. After having a conversation that thoroughly embarrassed the two of them, the damage was done. Dax eased up on his interest in taking Butterfly outside, but other than that, the house seemed to show no signs of knowing what had happened even though the couple now acted strangely around each other. Some remained oblivious, but most were on Dax's side, provoking the situation to see where it would go. Eventually, outings turned more towards the direction of dates and then they were screwed.
