they are an enderologist! the enderpeople fascinated them in a way they simply could not avoid, and so they began to study them as a side hobby on being a potion maker, how they made most of their wages! they ended up learning more about the endermen then they could have hoped for, and began to share the knowledge with others assuming people would be just as curious and have respect for the ancient enderpeople, however, this is not what happened.. with the knowledge they shared, people began to kill endermen more easily, could travel to their world.. they pleaded with people to stop slaughtering the endermen unprovoked, as endermen are a peaceful race unless disturbed, but it did little good. one night as they prepared to gather potion supplies, they were met with an unpleasant surprise, an enderman, seemingly undisturbed began to attack them viciously, however they knew the real cause for this was the fact they'd caused such a genocide upon their people. with much reluctance they drew their sword, and slayed the enderman. they watched as the pearl fell to the ground along with the endermans body, and they looked away as disgust filled them. as they pondered, hoping to try and make peace with what they'd done- the pearl started to glow, and it levitated from the ground. everything went dark, and they passed out. when they woke up, they were in the same spot, beside the corpse of the enderman in some ferns. but where was the pearl??? they looked around, hoping to bury it for respect sake, but it was no where to be seen.. soon they had a sharp pain in their chest, and upon pulling their shirt down, the pearl was embedded in their chest, and dark purplish veins starts to sprout from the area, this was a curse for what they'd done. they accepted their punishment quite quickly bcs they knew very well they deserved it, and over time their body is slowly becoming more ender then human..
