Orion was born as the first child of a ruthless Galran Commander who was extremely proud of the Galran Empire and would have done everything for it. For Orions father the Galra were the only species in the universe that matters, and he considered every other species as scum.

He tried to raise Orion in his believes that Galra are the only Species that matters. However, Orion already as a young boy had a lot of questions and could not understand why there is one species in the universe that matters more than any other comparing his own thoughts and feelings with what other species might be able to feel. His father did not accept these thoughts of Orion and punished him for having such thoughts. After some time, Orion gave up trying to talk about this with his father.

In his youth he just did what his father expected of him. He tried to become that kind of child his father wanted him to be. Pushing away all the concerns he had when he was younger. He worked hard to become a soldier just like his father and to make his family proud, but he never really liked it. Whenever he had to execute other species, it made him feel extremely bad. But he was already thinking that this is his destiny. It is what he is supposed to do and that there is no way he can run from it. He was also ashamed of himself at this time for not being a "normal" Galra like everyone else around him. At some point, Orion just fulfilled all the orders others wanted him to do. Towards other Galra Orion started acting like he was proud of what he was doing and that he enjoyed to enslave and kill other species for the Empire. Towards others he seemed to be cold hearted and distant.

This let to him drinking a lot of alcohol when he was not working for the Military, sometimes wandering around in places that were ruled by thieves and criminals in the Empire. He often started fights with others and captured some of them for the Empire but sometimes when he found someone who fought for other Species he let them go.

So it happened that one day he met a Galra criminal called Erem.
