Life of a Merchant

The ship Polaris lives on transports goods to and from the island of Kisetsu and the surrounding landmasses. He assists with menial tasks while learning the tricks of the trade and gaining valuable insight from the more experienced members of the naval caravan. After working during the day, Polaris finds time to relax or self study in the evenings. Quite often, he'll explore the current harbor city. The hussle and bussle in port towns is a familiar and comforting sound for Polaris, but what really interests him is to find the differences in each place he visits. Maybe it's a strange instrument playing in the square, a unique style of fashion on display, or even the different species of birds flying overhead, these little differences are Polaris' favorite things to find and learn about.

Chance Meeting - Shizuru

Constantly traveling leads to Polaris meeting many different people in many different places, but those whom Polaris meets multiple times over subsequent visits, which are often quite a length apart, are Polaris' favorites. It is the persistence of these relationships that makes the meetings between them stand out the most.

Currently, there is only one exception to this pattern. The caravan was docked in a city to the east and on a night where sleep once again eluded him, Polaris decided to take a stroll along the beach. It was a starless night, air pollution and clouds obscuring the stars Polaris would usually look to for company. Truthfully, he was expecting not to meet anyone but the sound of rolling waves against sand that night, and he likely wouldn't have noticed the beach's other visitor if not for the way their figure practically shone against the black backdrop of an empty sky and open water. Moonlight shone against the white hair of these two who met among the tide and golden eyes met Polaris' for but a split second before Polaris was entranced.

The man who stood alone with the warm breeze ruffling his unruly hair offered Polaris no words. Thus, Polaris said none in return. On that night were they simply stood side by side against the sea spray, but Polaris had decided that this man was one of the most interesting people he'd ever met.

And once the man left, the crisp sound of his sandals against the sand being the only thing that gave away his exit, Polaris didn't dare glance back or say goodbye lest he curse them to never meet again. He simply continued to watch the sea for a while longer before returning to the ship to turn in for the night. It would only be the day after that Polaris would let out a sigh of discontent, a rare occurance in and of itself, as he learned they would not be returning this harbor for quite a long time.

• He doesn't like the smell of coffee, so when he needs caffeine, he drinks tea
• He is a born and raised Asterian, but people in Kisetsu often mistake him for a Cubchoo
• Doesn't mind the cold or get sick easily, but he wears his heavy coat and scarf to make people worry less about him
• Late at night, he can be found laying out on the deck to stargaze
• Polaris has quite the eye for details and this extends to his own room. Though it is sparesely decorated, he prefers his things to be in their proper places and order
