ELI THURSTON
Eli tends to looks intimidating and scary, terrifying anyone who walks his way despite just being an awkward man who only wants to get to his destinations with no trouble. His lacking of facial expressions make it difficult for others to tell what he's thinking. Inwardly, he is anxious and bothered by feelings of hopelessness. He is detached from the world around him due to bottling up his emotions since he was young. Eli's a bit on the subservient side, and usually doesn't stand up for himself, instead opting for the choice to ignore and not respond.
He prefers isolating himself and keeping himself occupied by doing his job. The one thing he can be proud of is his job as a trauma surgeon and being able to be needed. He enjoys having a lot on his plate and is a workaholic. Eli is intelligent, observative and a quick thinker under pressure. He is sweet, but a lot of his coworkers think he's pompous and uppity for not being able to interact with them properly; another addition to the pile as to why he's not very good at forming relationships.
He's not affectionate, and it is a very rare sighting to see him smile. Eli is a secretive guy and will always keep to himself.
Character
- His red eyes were inherited from his father's side of the family. It skips a generation, though, so Eli's children will NOT have a chance with red eyes, instead they have a chance at brown eyes; his grandchildren, of course, have more of a probability to inherit red eyes.
- He has poor eating habits, but is more likely to skip Lunch than any of the other meals of the day. Eli only eats fast microwavable things like cup noodle, etc.
- Eli has never gone to fun places, such as: the beach, amusement parks, public parks, etc. until he meets the rest of the gang (Autumn, Britney, Conner, Matthew and Vanessa); in which, he gets invited to a lot of places with them in his life now.
- Whenever Eli becomes embarrassed or shy about something in particular, his ears begin turning into a bright shade of red.
- His depression is moderately severe.
- Eli is a bookworm, loves playing strategy/puzzle games, and also enjoys drawing.
Summary
Official Role
Eli Thurston is a trauma surgeon at Angelwing Hospital. He is the youngest doctor they've ever had work for them, although that's not the only thing he is known for around his work enviroment. He is known for being intimidating and generally hard to speak with, making people assume he is pompous. When in reality, his lack of expressions and social awkwardness is not of mean intent, but of things he can't control. Eli follows a bumpy road with his mental health and trips a few times during it. After rolling in his mind and invalidating his feelings for hours, the last thing he would think of is getting help for his mental being; and it's quite possible that after juggling exhuastion and stress from his everyday life, that a mental breakdown can occur whenever.
Although it's hard to see what he's thinking under such a stoic expression, his biggest goals include: making friends, trying his true passion at drawing, and being able to let go of the past that has haunted him since he escaped the cult he grew up in.

 Autumn Summer[ Strangers / Love Interest ]"You have such beautiful eyes~"Eli is the 5th character to properly be introduced to Autumn, though they both meet informally during a period where Autumn is feeling homesick. And during an unexpected rain shower that causes them both to take shelter at the nearest building, a bakery. Their first interaction plays out in Summit Park with a hilarious first impression before they're forced to take shelter at the nearest shop. And for accidentally doing what she did to him, as an apology, she buys him something from the bakery as they both wait for the rain to subside. Eli is awkward around her. He is extremely minimal with his sentences when they first meet, and is shy with her around. She is always the first to start their conversations up and does most of the talking for him. Autumn never outright says that she loves him, but she's very obvious in the ways she expresses platonic affection vs romantic affection. Eli acknowledges that her feelings exist, but puts a barrier between them so she can never know whether he reciprocates or not, much to her dismay. It's not that he doesn't like her, it's more-so the fact that he fears anyone getting closer to him and seeing all the weaknesses he is ashamed of. Eli is afraid of being a let down, fearing abandonment so much that his actions towards her seem cold (which doesn't affect Autumn in the slightest because he often has a hard time turning her down, plus, she talks so much that he can't keep up with her sometimes). Eli never wanted to reciprocate her feelings, but in the end, he gets used to her company so much that when he lacks it, it feels uncomfortable. Eli admires Autumn's social nature and her ability to make new friends in seconds flat. She's that faint light on his bad days and appreciates her presence even when wanting to distance himself. He wishes he could be as confident as her.Eli admits to Vanessa that when he first met Autumn, he thought he was hallucination from sleep deprivation. And it wasn't until the aftermath of the meeting where Eli knew she was real. |

Eli is very intimidated by her as she is very outspoken and doesn't hold back on the way she feels. Their relationship is unbalanced (like a queen and a servant) as Britney has the full capability of telling him what to do and he'd complete it against his will because of his difficulty with turning people down. Amigo, Pal, Compadre, Carnal--"Conner is an extrovert and the life of the party, so he knows a lot of people in the city, including this shy doctor. Eli isn't very much of a talkative man, so of course, Conner creates an entire conversation for the both of them. (wip) |
 Luke Knight[ Stranger / Indirect Enemy ]"Nonsense. Autumn specifically asked me to do it."Even though Luke Knight is an important part of their country's escalating, advanced technology, it seems like Eli never bothered to care about his existence much besides understanding he is related to business. The only reason Eli learns more about him is because the people he surrounds himself with (Conner, Matt, Britney, V, and Autumn, etc.) enjoy talking about him often, like he is some sort of God. He doesn't meet Luke Knight until a certain point in the story where they are both equally interested in getting her romantic attention. They end up being forced to get along because Autumn is annoyed by their antics and makes them do farm work with her. |
