Hailing from a faraway clan who holds survival and adaptation above all else, Battalion is considered a prestigious member for his prowess in pulling through a whole manner of afflictions throughout his life.
Decrepit is what many would think of when first viewing Battalion. His 40 odd years of brutal adaptation and healing methods have left him scarred, horribly disfigured and decidedly uncaring in the plight of people's lives. You adapt and survive or perish due to your weakness. He does acknowledge however, that bodies are naturally susceptible to failing; it is a strong mind that truly pulls a person through to continue living through injuries and epidemics.
A mind that believes in something-be it family, religion, potions or other such things- is far more likely to persist through ordeals (or at the very least not die as fast). A person who survives with a clear mind is considered strong, even if their body becomes tired and frail. Still, a broken body is of no use to someone on a material plane; Battalion journeys beyond his clans borders to find additional ways of... encouraging a body to adapt and carry on working to the best of it's ability after any afflictions done to it.
