  • his mother left when he was 4 years old, to this day he still has no idea why or how
  • his father remarried when he was 6 yrs

  • during the winter when he was 12 he also got a half brother
• his father grew resentful of his first wife after she left, and with Selkie growing up and taking on more and more of her traits, he even came to loathe him, so when he got a second son with his new wife he ended up taking Selkie out for a walk by the coast before shooting him in the back with an arrow and leaving him there to die
• lying there in the snow his selkie powers finally manifested, and a seal skin enveloped him and kept him warm
• barely having survived and scared and confused of the things happening to his body he ended up running away
