Talin

The tyrant king and second ruler of Avinara, Talin came to power suddenly after the murder of Queen Avn'Ra, and led the glowans in a crusade against an aggressive native creature threatening their cities and settlements; the first and only war glowankind has ever fought. Talin's legacy is that of a cold-hearted, ruthless man who only caused problems for the species, though the world thinks him long-since dead - and thank goodness for that.

Avn'Ra's secret biological son, Talin lived in the moon palace his entire life, and there was never any real intention for him to come to power. He killed Avn'Ra himself so he could take over the throne and address the growing raccorex problem she refused to. With her dead in his arms, his sudden overwhelming grief shocked his system into trapping itself at the maturity of a twenty-year-old, never to grow older no matter how much his body did. 

Talin's genocide was a bloody but succinct one that succeeded in wiping out the native raccorex species. His General, L'Vrae, was his constant companion even after the war until his mysterious death in the wilderness. Talin's temper suddenly took a turn for the worse and he spiraled deeper towards the cruel Iceheart that glowankind remembers. When his successor came of age, he simply vanished into thin air, and that was that.

Talin isn't dead, of course: he spends two hundred passes living it up as an arctic beast, eventually to be returned to his glowan shape by some teens trying to save their own hides. After being reunited with L'Vrae by the same meddling kids, Talin spends some time incognito on the surface to really, finally get a feel for his populace as people, not just the faceless masses. He returns to the moon triumphant and with childish glee to scare the living daylights out of Queen Welia - and he formally (finally) relinquishes her the throne. Shortly after, due to the appearance of another heir, they come to an additional accord to establish a joint rule, with him as the custodian of the planet and her as the proper ruler of the glowan populace, and an heir apiece. With a better perspective in the modern age, Talin begins trying to right the wrongs he's caused but he realizes that there's some things even an emperor can't fix once they're done.

Talin is a spoiled, selfish, emotionally-stunted man. He acts entirely on impulse and has a firey temper. While he feels justified in his actions, he has a warped concept of right and wrong and little by way of empathetic ability; he was never socialized as a child and struggles to see other people as people instead of props in his own narrative. He has an obsessive curiosity with the world and nature - a terrifying concept to most glowans, much to his bafflement - and spends a lot of his free time during both of his rules on the surface, camping, hunting, and researching the planet.
