mia | female | gym leader

Personality

Despite being soft spoken, Mia will tirelessly fight for what she believes in and focuses more on emotion than facts. She is good at taking lead and helping others who train in her gym but not very good at helping herself, often needing help from her Pokémon to make sure shes okay! She often comes off as extroverted but she needs her space alone sometimes for her work and to recharge after running her gym all day.

Backstory

Ever since she was a little kid Mia had always loved Pokémon with all her heart, so turning 10 and getting her first partner was a very big deal to her. The main present she got from her parents was a very high catch-rate pokéball, capable of catching one of the weaker Pokémon that lived around her home town without the need to weaken them first.

Mia took off as soon as she could, heading straight for the Pokémon-filled wooded area off of the beaten path. She had no idea what types of Pokémon to expect to find, but knew she definitely wasn't interested in all the different birds, bugs and rodents that she would see everywhere, even from within her town.

Eventually though, something caught her eye. A weird purple-ish gas was coming from underneath some leaves, from within some sort of hide in the ground. Curious, she lifted the leaves to find a small Gastly. Mia was shocked - it was the middle of the day! Gastly don't come out to the forest until it's at least a little dark to get away from the sun.
The small Pokémon inched away from Mia, trying it's best to escape despite the hole it was hiding in being rather shallow.

"Are you scared?" Mia asked, frowning.

The Pokémon cried out weakly in response. It had obviously gotten separated from it's friends somehow and got stranded in the forest when the sun rose...
It took a little bit, but Mia came up with an idea.

"Hey, I know how to get you out of here! I have this--" she pulled the pokéball out of her pocket and placed it infront of the Gastly. "I've heard that these are quite comfortable for Pokémon, so if you go in here I can get you out of the sun! I'll release you after it's dark again though, don't worry. I know you probably want to go play with your friends again."

The Gastly looked very unsure, but the small girl's dumb smile somehow reassured it enough to know that she was probably telling the truth. It carefully floated forward and pressed the button on the pokéball to enter it.
