- Aella is a member of a minor noble family.
-Around 17-18 before the timeskip.
- Her cousin is the current heir of the family, but her parents are trying to push for her Grandfather to name her older sister the heir instead.
-Since her parents are busy with that, Aella is basically pushed to the background Sort an absent pat on the head as she’s told to get out of the way and amuse herself. No one ever expects anything from her, so she starts off generally passive because no one had ever really expected anything of her.
- Her father told her that another family might be interested in wedding her to their son. She had met him once before, and said she was...okay with it. He had seemed nice at least. Everyone said she could do much worse. She basically just agreed because she didn't really know what else she was going to do with herself. No expected anything from her.
-She was sent to the officers academy more to get her out of the way of the political maneuvering her family was doing than anything else, although they hoped she would make some impact while she was there. Maybe make people remember their family name.
-After she starts making friends and interacting with more people she just...sort of wants to start doing more/getting out of her bubble? Eventually becomes a pegasus knight because she's good with a spear and doesn't have a fear of heights.
-Actually was always interested in designing clothes and fashion! Designed a lot of her own outfits back home, but given that she was a noble it was considered slightly beneath her to do so. her family mostly ignored her hobby because of that. She considered it unimportant and not worth anything. Just something she did to pass the time.
-But because of that, she's always been interested in textiles. While at the Officers Academy she actually started looking into what it would take to start actually manufacturing textiles in her family territory. She thought it might actually help them again a little more wealth. She starts asking merchants that deal in such things for information, and even decided to go see how cloth was made herself. Ferdinand tagged along with her during the latter trips because he didn’t think she should go alone.
-She tried to write to her cousin and sister to explain her reasoning and what she’d learned, but it was mostly ignored. It actually alarmed some of her family, because their inter-family politicking had treated her as a passive entity. They aren’t sure what to do with the thought she might be gaining more independence.
-Aella for her part, is actually becoming restless thinking about going home. She doesn’t want to go back to just drifting around her family manor doing nothing. She’s also living in fear that her family might remember that vague agreement she made to get married. The engagement wasn’t official, but her parent’s could very well make it official to get her out of the way. She’s tried writing to the man they want her to marry, but the letters were always curt. She tried to meet him, but the few times they actually talked face to face it was awkward since they really didn’t have much in common. Still...she isn’t sure how to tell her family that she isn’t interested in the marriage offer any more, or even be sure that they would listen to her. They’re counting on the marriage to make her sister look better for their Grandfather.
Has more than a bit of a crush on Fredinand by the end of the Academy phase~~
