Gauge

A space pirate who was originally a scientist who got sucked through a portal and ended up in the middle of who-knows-where.  While trying to survive in his new environment, he managed to use the exoskeleton of an alien creature called a "void crab" to help protect himself; using one of its claws as a helmet and one of its feet as a stabbing weapon. At some point a parasitic creature referred to as a "void wyrm" crawled through the eye hole in his new helmet and replaced his left eye. At first he thought about removing it, but it was somehow able to talk to him and promised to warn him of danger, and he didn't have a safe way to take it out anyway. Sometimes he'll cover it with an eyepatch when in a more civil environment, as its darting around can be distracting.

His main objective is to find his way back home. In the meantime, he's made a reputation for himself hijacking ships and stealing in order to further his goals. Sometimes he'll convince others (often with threats of bodily harm) to help him, but most of these are temporary.

*This character was originally designed for DeviantArt's Cosmic Corsair contest, which required a crest, a cap, and a weapon as part of the design.

-Crest: It's a star to show that this character is related to one of my other OCs (Synthea), but since his life got flip turned upside down... yeah. And the swirl ending in an x is to look piratey and to represent his journey home.
-Cap: Conveniently, void crabs have eyes on each of their claws, so he can still see if he has to close it. Apparently it smells horrendous in there, so he leaves it open whenever possible.
-Weapon: The sharp feet of the creature seemed to be the easiest to both make and use as a weapon, and not being trained to do either prior to being teleported, was pretty much his only option. Though he has gotten good at using it over time.
