Matsuoka

Matsuoka is a somewhat tall and thin young Japanese man with long white hair and light blue eyes as a result of albinism. His eyes are extremely sensitive to light so he either wears a mask or a hat, or simply closes his eyes as much as possible when talking to someone he's close with and trusting of. If he has just met someone, he typically keeps his eyes barely open in order to show respect and not be regarded as particularly stranger than he already might be perceived as.

He wears a silk hanfu he bought on his trips to China, and a Japanese haori over it. He doesn't mind mixing and matching clothes from both Japan and China, although most other people would strongly object. He likes dark blue/white/red clothings.

Matsuoka is often described as a reliable man with a smooth and pleasant voice- Coming in handy when he wishes to convince people to trade or buy wares. He frequents between Japan and China by boat, working as primarily a trader but occasionally a translator.

Though despite being a trader, he can be careless sometimes as a result of his sheltered upbringing. He hends up relying heavily on a fox spirit named Seijin he accidentally awakened, who he has befriended and whom follows Matsuoka on his trips to China. He greatly appreciates well-made silk, and trades Japanese masks, pottery, and paintings for silks. He only carries a bit of silver with him to pay for boat fares and stays.

Raised in a rather wealthy family in Japan, many of whom were successful traders, Matsuoka was a surprisingly directionless child growing up. Often outcasted by others for his white hair that stood out too much, he was pushed to prove himself in other ways even when he didn't want to. While his parents wanted him to only spend time with others of the same 'social status', those children would often make fun of him even more relentlessly, and he was not allowed to hang out with the village children who were more accepting of him. As a result, he spent most of his younger childhood not too far from the family home, rarely conversing with others aside from family members or teachers & guests who would visit their household.

Matsuoka would often visit and explore a large forested mountain behind his home, and one day as a teenage boy he accidentally stumbled upon an abandoned Inari shrine he had never seen before. Unknowingly awakening a fox spirit who went by the name of Seijin, the fox spirit was at first wary around Matsuoka especially considering the rather rude awakening. But slowly through Matsuoka's persistence to get to know Seijin (in part because of Matsuoka's own loneliness) the two were able to form a bond together. Matsuoka cares extremely deeply for Seijin and often asks him on his input before doing things. Whenever he returns to Japan, he makes a trip especially to visit the shrine they first met at, doing his best to clean and maintain it.

Matsuoka eventually picked up the family business of trading because he realized it would be the only way he could have his family's support to meet new people and see new things. While presently working as a trader, he is accompanied by Seijin who followed him on his trips and whom Matsuoka greatly welcomes.
