Nightclaw

Nightclaw is a serious, gruff, and often aggressive individual. He has a short temper and is not above letting his frustration or anger show, even to the point of coming to blows with his opposition. Nightclaw is a skilled fighter who trains constantly to be even better at it. He is also a decent hunter, although many areas such as tree hunting and fishing are not his strong suits. Despite being raised in a clan, Nightclaw does not enjoy clan life and is much happier as a rogue in the twolegplace. He is not loyal to Silentclan, the clan that raised him due to how they sided with his mother when they first arrived (the she-cat going unpunished for her mistreatment of Nightclaw), and he has a shaky relationship with the warrior code. Due to his early life Nightclaw also has issues with trusting other cats and is unwilling to open himself up or show weakness around most cats which can lead to others seeing him as standoffish or rude. However, for the cats that Nightclaw cares about he is a truly loyal and selfless individual, willing to do anything in order to support them and keep them safe. This can be a double-edged sword for Nightclaw, as his past failures to protect his loved ones often weighs heavily on his mind.

Major relationships

Family

Cloverheart (Mother) - Nightclaw strongly despises his mother due to her treatment of him growing up. As a kit Cloverheart refused to give Nightclaw his fair share of her milk and treated him considerably worse than his brother while they were escaping their former twolegplace due to the fact that Nightclaw reminded her of his father Jake.  After being rescued by the clans, Cloverheart did as little as possible with Nightclaw, denying what she'd done, as well as later refusing to even call him her son. Nightclaw returned her feelings, only acknowledging her as his parent when attempting to call out her lies or otherwise antagonise her. Due to the fact she was never punished for what she did to him, Nightclaw held on to a lot of anger towards her, eventually going so far as to kill her in order to finally serve justice. 

Jake (Father) - Nightclaw has a neutral relationship with his father. Despite being missing for the vast majority of his life, Nightclaw held his father in high esteem during his early life, looking up to him as a role model for both his fighting prowess and general strength (Jake being the leader of a twolegplace), as well as wishing that he lived with him so he could follow in his dad's footsteps. However when the two finally met again as adults, Nightclaw's opinion on his father changed due to the tom's outdated, narcissistic, and sexist views. While Nightclaw still respects his father for his physical abilities and achievements, he no longer holds him as a role model and does not want to be associated with his future undertakings. 

Leafblaze (Brother) - Nightclaw dislikes his brother. This started as resentment due to their mother favouring him as a kit, and continued to grow over time due to Leafblaze's natural go-lucky and cheerful demeanour  being in direct opposition to the type of cat Nightclaw could get along with. While Nightclaw does not go out of his way to hurt Leafblaze, he's not above making jabs at the tom's expense and has little to no respect for his warrior abilities. 

Max (Half brother) - Initially upon meeting Max for the first time Nightclaw got along reasonably well with the tom. Not exactly thinking his skills that impressive but finding his personality agreeable enough. However after Max turned on him Nightclaw hated the tom and would have given him a piece of his mind if not for Chickadeeflight. This only increased exponentially after Max was found to be responsible for Chickadeeflight's death. Nightclaw swore to kill the tom for that, hunting him down and eventually doing just that.

Blizzard (Mate) - Nightclaw adores Blizzard, loving her with all his soul. After starting their relationship as rivals, Nightclaw quickly grew feelings for Blizzard, liking her fighting abilities as well as her personality. They soon became mates after that, seeing each other in secret as Nightclaw was still a member of the clans at the time and needed to remain one for Snakeheart's plans. After her death, Nightclaw continued to mourn the loss of her for the rest of his life. He never truly got over her, and continued to feel ashamed and guilty for failing to do more to prevent her death for much of his life.

Jake, River, and Ice (Kits) - Nightclaw is very protective of his kits, having made a promise to himself to protect them at any cost due to failing to do so for their mother. He personally trained all three of them to both hunt and fight, spending considerable time doing so to make sure that they could handle anything that life would throw their way.  He can be quite critical of his kit’s choices, although he ultimately supports their decisions regardless of whether they heeded his advice in the end. While he isn't the type to show it, Nightclaw is very proud of his kit's skills and accomplishments, believing they've grown into three very capable, level headed, and powerful young cats. Nightclaw never stop watching over his kits, protecting them right to the end, eventually sacrificing his own life to push Ice out of the way of a car.

Friends

Snakeheart (Friend) - Nightclaw has a deep bond with Snakeheart, considering him his best friend, as well as more of a brother than any of his actual siblings. Nightclaw first met Snakeheart as kits and quickly bonded over a shared dislike of their respective siblings as well as both being considered 'weird' by the other kits. They were basically inseparable after that, playing together, training together, and getting into all kinds of trouble together. Nightclaw has a vast amount of respect for Snakeheart, knowing full well what a brilliant warrior he is as well as believing him to be a far better cat than other cats give him credit for (Snakeheart  being the product of a forbidden relationship as well as the spitting image of his grandfather, a tom who ruled Pineclan and was feared by all). Due to this Nightclaw was willing to follow Snakeheart anywhere, fully supporting his plans to take Pineclan for himself as well as staying in the clans despite his dislike for clan life in order to help his plans and later act as Snakeheart's deputy. Nightclaw was truly devastated by Snakeheart's untimely death wishing he could have done more in the battle that led to it. After he was banished from Pineclan by the cat who killed Snakeheart and took leadership Nightclaw continued to defend Snakeheart in his limited capacity as a rogue disliking how the clan's ultimately painted the tom a villain. 

Chickadeeflight (Ex-mate/Friend) - Nightclaw had a complicated relationship with Cickadeeflight for much of his life. Initially as a kit and apprentice respectively they were somewhat close both being considered rebellious and trouble causing outcasts along with Snakeheart. This eventually led to them agreeing to become fake mates in order to garner a little more support from Silentclan. Nightclaw never grew any real feelings for Chickadeeflight, however the she-cat did and after Nightclaw fell for Blizzard this caused a significant rift between them in which Nightclaw didn't want anything to do with her due to her antics to get him to love her back. After Blizzard's death and then later Snakeheart's, the two of them fell back into a more serious relationship which ended up being very unhealthy for the both of them. On Nightclaw's side this was due to him still not really having romantic feelings and not being nearly ready for a new relationship despite still desiring companionship. While Chickadeeflight was constantly pressuring Nightclaw for more in their relationship due to her feelings for him and that she was incredibly needy and insecure in general. This led to a lot of fighting, arguments, and general misery for the both of them. Many moons later after splitting up for good, Nightclaw's relationship with Chickadeeflight eventually healed now that the two finally had a bit distance from each other. Nightclaw came to appreciate the fact they were the last ones left of their friend group that had left Silentclan as well as finally coming to properly respect Chickadeeflight rather than see only her flaws as he had while they were mates. By the time of Chickadeeflight's death, Nightclaw considered her a true friend.

Others

Shadowfall (Rival) - Nightclaw had a long term rivalry with Shadowfall, stemming all the way back from when they were kits. The two of them constantly butting heads over who was better, stronger, or any other point of contention between them. While this mainly occurred while Nightclaw still resided in Silentclan, it continued after he joined Pineclan and then as a rogue whenever the two happened to cross paths. Despite their antagonistic relationship Nightclaw does not exactly dislike or hate Shadowfall and actually has a lot of respect for the tom and his strength. He never takes their battles lightly knowing full well that he is a challenging opponent even with his own considerable skill, and gives his full 100% everytime he goes toe to toe with Shadowfall.

Littleleap (Foster mother) - Nightclaw has a soft spot for Littleleap. She is one of the few Silentclan cats that Nightclaw respects and is willing to listen to, due to the kindness she showed him as a kit despite his initial hostility towards her attempts. Littleleap is one of the few aspects Nightclaw misses from his time in Silentclan, and he still wishes he'd spent more time with her while he had the chance. 

Snowstep (Mentor) - Nightclaw strongly dislikes Snowstep. From the start of his apprenticeship to it's end Nightclaw was constantly at odds with his mentor, strongly disagreeing with his personal morals as well as resenting the fact that he'd been given a 'weak' mentor. Nightclaw considers Snowstep a pushover due to his pacifist nature.
