Physical description

Lak is an average sized female tenaliam with tanned skin. Due to being a mix of the southern and northern sub species her fur is a blend of colours: Her ear tuffs and elbow fur are pure reddish brown, her goatee and tail are pure white and the rest are a mix of both. Her paws are structured like the southern variety, however, her feet are covered in long flowing fur. Most interesting about her fur is it is frizzy rather than straight like others of her kind. Her fur texture is the result of a genetic disorder that, among other things, resulted in rotated inward front ankles (similar to clubfoot). Her front legs themselves often cross each other in a bent over position. Lak's gait is understandably affected, she tends to walk in a stumbling hobbled manner. another physical effect of her condition is a tail deformity; unlike the long straight tail of most tenaliam her's curls in a spiral shape towards her body.  As a final note in contrast to most tenaliam Lak's expression is stuck in a friendly smile. Her species doesn't often express their emotions through their lips so this doesn't affect how others perceive her emotions.

Lak does not wear clothing.

Backstory

Lak’s backstory is basically the same as her sibling. She was born to a mother living in one of the most war torn locations of the planet Karkarr along with her twin sibling Lok. Lak was born with a genetic disorder making caring for her even more difficult. Over the years the 3 struggled to survive which left her mother mentally unstable and desperate.

At age 16 her mother "snapped" in a sense and sold Lak to a slaver just to rid herself of the responsibility before fleeing. Lak was almost immediately spoiled by this individual as he never really put her to any intensive work. Thing is Lak can tell there’s something very... off about this man and would rather get out of there sooner rather than later.

As of the beginning of the story she is trying to devise some way to escape. Unfortunately she hasn’t any ideas just yet.

Personality

Lak is someone that could be best described as trying her best. She's honestly a very depressed individual but she tends to veil her negative emotions. She dislikes the attention of others so its in her best interest to pretend everything is fine even when that’s clearly not the case. Lak is very shy and suffers of a lot of social anxiety, part of this is almost certainly connected to her unique physical appearance. Lak constantly pushes to improve her own life but she rather accomplish it by herself.

Regardless of what you would think Lak is not a doormat. She’s no less aggressive than any others of her kind and if anything she’s arguably even more vicious than her brother. With the exceptions of her few close friends she has little to no tolerance for the presence of others. She is very capable of chasing off anyone that stays in her personal space for too long.

Lak enjoys learning and gaining new experiences even if it means occasionally having to endure the company of others. She especially enjoys watching and playing with smaller creatures. Animals or at least species that her mind associates with them are individuals she can better tolerate.

While not a character trait it's notable Lak has some mobility and joint issues. She suffers of chronic pain and discomfort and lacked much in the way of medical care most of her life. As such she requires a large amount of downtime even if she rather be doing something else. Luckily she enjoys many low movement activities like watching videos, playing games with simple controls, drawing (badly), card games, etc…

Overall she’s a pretty troubled but not at all bad person.
