Personality:

If there's one thing of note about Nasaba, it's that he is extremely level-headed. He is able to stay calm and collected in the face of danger, proving to be a large source of comfort for the pride in those sort of scenarios. He is also incredibly compassionate towards his pride members, listening to their circumstances and proving himself to be quite understanding of their issues. However, while he has proven himself to be quite caring, Nasaba also has garnered a reputation for being rather strict. While he is understanding towards what is going on in a pride member's personal life, he will not tolerate lying and rule breaking; in other words, he has no pity for a dishonorable pride member that refuses to atone for themselves. If you refuse to shape up, you have to ship out in Nasaba's book. Despite all of this, he is patient, which allows him to try and work with those who are struggling. He is merciful in terms of punishment; so long as the lion seems to be trying to do better, he will want to try and work with them, meaning the punishment will likely be minimal (if not none) so long as they are making an effort. This can be a bit of an issue due to his perfectionist habits, as he tries his best to make sure everything is exactly the way it should be and running perfectly. This, along with his overall adoration for his pride, are what ultimately cause his anxiety. Nasaba constantly worries about every lion's well-being, and in the process often sacrifices his own. Those closest to him often find themselves having to take care of Nasaba in return, or he will literally run himself into the ground trying to handle every responsibility he feels like a leader should manage. Currently, the black and white lion is working to learn how to designate some responsibilities to others so that it is not all on his shoulders.

Greatest Fear:

Out of everything that Nasaba worries over, his greatest fear is that he is going to fail his pridemates. It is why he dedicates so much time and energy into doing everything he can for the betterment of the pride. He believes that it is his responsibility to keep everything together; to see the pride fall apart would devastate him. In Nasaba’s eyes, if the pride fails, he fails, and if he fails, what was the point of trying to form the pride in the first place? Whenever he has nightmares, it is almost guaranteed that they are somehow related to this nagging worry that is always lingering in the back of his head. It’s part of the reason Nasaba is proven to be such a perfectionist and stickler for the rules; he does not want to risk seeing what he fears come to fruition, and so he will do whatever he can to prevent that. It is admirable, though at times ill-executed.

Starting a Pride:

The reason Nasaba started his pride is actually because of his first pride member, the guy that was raised as his brother, Jiwe. After leaving the Crusaders, Nasaba felt empty. Being a part of the pride, it had been an experience he had enjoyed far more than he had expected, even though the Crusaders were not quite the right fit for him. He mainly stuck around because of his father being there; once he passed away, Nasaba didn't really feel tied to the group, but he missed the closeness of having other lions that he would look out for and that would look out for him. When he met up with Jiwe again after all that time, he ended up talking about his feelings, and it was Jiwe's suggestion of starting one of his own that ultimately inspired him to do so. That is a big reason for Jiwe being the first member of the pride, though it's also because of how close the two are after being raised together.

Personal Timeline:

1. Nasaba is born

  • Nasaba was born to a rogue lioness, knowing of his father but never actually meeting him.

2. Nasaba spends time with the Memory Keepers

3. Nasaba meets Altea

  • Nasaba met Altea when both of them were hunting the same zebra, initially fighting over who would get to eat it before deciding to share. From then on, the two stuck together and ultimately fell in love.

4. Nasaba and Altea split up

  • Altea wanted to return to her pride, feeling guilty for leaving, and Nasaba was upset that she was so willing to give up what they had. He gave her the ultimatum of either him or the pride: she chose her pride, and so the two went their separate ways.

5. Nasaba meets his father

  • After wandering as a rogue for a while, Nasaba unintentionally encountered his father, the leader of the Crusaders. He was surprised by how excited his father was to meet him, but wasn't against getting to know his absent father.

6.  Nasaba joins the Crusaders

  • At his father's urging, Nasaba joined his father's pride, willing to test out what it was like (perhaps partially because he was guilty for never giving Altea's a chance).

7. Nasaba's father passes away

8. Nasaba leaves the Crusaders

  • Nasaba left to travel as a rogue again, as he felt no real tie to the pride other than his father. After his father died, he no longer felt any connection.

9. Nasaba founds the Isle of Roses

Moodboard: Nasaba is a lion, hence the image of a lion's paws and a lion wearing a crown. The paws also are there to represent the journey Nasaba took to find the place the pride he formed now calls home, while the fact that the lion is wearing a crown is representative of the fact that he is a king. The blue rose was chosen due to the Isle's attachment to roses and because Nasaba's eyes are blue. He does his best to stay calm, hence the image of the sky with "Calm" written across it. The two quotes are representative of Nasaba's wishes; he just wants a companion, something he now has with Cheka, and he believes that your destiny cannot be taken from you.

Saints by Echos - Akilia destroys everything Nasaba has been working to build. She throws every mistake he's made - at least, whatever she's perceived as a mistake - into his face, despite her not being innocent either. She says he is guilty, but she is not innocent either. Nasaba may not be a saint, but he is trying to be the best leader he can be. Akilia doesn't follow the rules and is no savior, and Nasaba will, when he finally is strong enough to try and take back the throne, confront her on those facts. She judged him, and now it is time that she face that same judgement, because Nasaba has had enough of being afraid that he will fail. It ends with Akilia, who is no better of a leader than he was.

Dynasty by MIIA - Nasaba doesn't expect that Akilia will betray him, so when she does, it will rock his world. He was foolish to blindly trust so many lions to enter the home he created, but he just wanted to be kind. He gave everything to his pride, only for Akilia to rip away the home he built for them. Akilia took everything and destroyed the home Nasaba had built. Nasaba's name means "dynasty," and as the song states, he thought he had built one. He put his everything into the pride, but Akilia stole that away. Everything in Nasaba's life falls apart when Akilia usurps him as Queen of the Isle of Roses, and Nasaba is left trying to pick up the pieces and figure out where he goes from here.
