Flight of Broken Wings
"The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it."
Silk and his brother Cotton grew up as orphans on the Air Plane. They trained and relied on each other for most of their lives. When Silk failed the test to join the ranks of the Sky Wardens, Cotton was the reason he pushed himself to get better. But it was learning the Warden's secret that changed everything. They weren't the heroes Silk thought they were, they were attacking and robbing villages on the material plane. Unfortunately of Silk, he was caught and tossed out of the Air Plane for overhearing the truth.
When he awoke, he was caged and forced to fight to the death in the Red Coliseum. He survived for a year before he was rescued by mysterious woodland people. With his new found freedom, Silk began his real journey to save the world as the virtue of Patience. When the Seven Sins were finally vanquished, Silk stayed with the family that he gained through the adventure, particularly sticking close to Cora, his sister.

Summary
Backstory
Silk grew up on the Elemental Plane of Air like most of his kind. Silk and his brother, Cotton, grew up inseparable. They grew up under the care of the whole clan, since they were abandoned by their parents. Yet they grew up mischievous and happy within their clan's territory. Because they were orphans of the clan, however, they didn't really have a chance to learn a trade. So the two of them decided that they would become warriors together. When they both came of age, they tested to become part of the Sky Wardens, a group of knights that protect the skies and are known for their exciting and noble adventures. They battled furiously for the few positions the Sky Wardens had for apprentices. But in the end only Cotton became an apprentice. Silk, discouraged, fell into depression. All he ever wanted was to become a Sky Warden, and yet he had failed
Concerned about his brother’s mental state, Cotton started to teach Silk everything he learned from his mentor. Silk would meet up with his brother in the Sky Warden island, and train with him in secret. After a few weeks, Silk started to feel like himself again. He had confidence that he would re-test the next year and become a Sky Warden apprentice like his brother.
But one night, the two boys were training in their usual spot at Sky Warden island when they heard voices not far from them. They listened as senior Sky Wardens revealed that they have been going to the martial plane and raiding creatures called “humans.” Silk was horrified that the Sky Wardens, who stood for justice and protection, would do something like that. But Cotton didn’t seem surprised at the revelation. Silk confronted his brother about it and Cotton admitted to participating in the raids. Silk yelled at him, telling his brother that those people were innocents and the Sky Wardens were a force of defense, not senseless killing. The sound of shouting, unfortunately, caught the hidden Sky Wardens’ attention. They came to Cotton’s defense. When they found out that Silk knew about their secret, they attacked him. Silk fought his hardest, but the Sky Wardens overwhelmed him quickly. The last thing Silk saw before he was knocked out, was Cotton trying to get his mentor off of Silk.
Silk woke up a few days later in unfamiliar surroundings. He was in a cage, shackled and collared, being transported by strange figures… without wings. Too tired and weak to fight off his captors, he was sold to a “king.” He was thrusted into the world of a battle arena. For a year, the only thing he saw outside his cobblestone cell was the cobblestone walls of a king’s arena. He would enter the open sky arena and glance at the sky and wish beyond his wildest dreams that he can return home to the sky. But with his wings shackled and heavy, there was little he could do but fight. Silk quickly learned that in this world it was “kill or be killed.” He became a powerful fighter and a prized champion of the ruler of the human kingdom. Over time he learned common tongue, but spoke very little, defiance long beaten out of him. He was able to only keep one thing, a satchel his brother had given him. Silk hid it from his captors well, and it became his only reminder of home.
Silk was there for almost a year when he was rescued by humans with pointy ears. He watched in surprise as the figures opened his cell and removed the shackles from his wings. Without a word, he cautiously stepped out of his cell and made a run for it. He flew for so long he could not feel his wings, but he would not land until he was far enough away he could not see the castle anymore. He crashed into a forest from pain and exhaustion.
He woke up again in the same place that he landed, but he knew he should not linger for much longer. He got up and began walking. Slowly.
