An Off-Color Diamond, it was Rainbow Diamond herself who appraised her and found her to be fit to rule despite resembling a more organic creature. Thousands of years ago, this led into feuds that led to Rainbow Diamond distancing herself from most other Diamonds in the Crystimum Authority, but ultimately allowed these "Off-Color" Diamonds to act as Diamonds freely.

Purple Moth Diamond is a kindly ruler who nonetheless chases after organics who are "off-base" quite often. It's said that she's been performing experiments of hybridization in her court behind the scenes, where Gems who are a little too perfect are brought down to size through being led to reproduce hybrid Gems...
