Cornflower

Cornflower was born and raised in the flower demon kingdom of Fiobleur known as ---. From a young age he was proud of his big halo horn (?) that not only looked flashy, but was filled with floral energy as well. The attention went to Cornflower’s head as he began growing his hair long and wearing certain clothes to look extravagant, which his parents assumed was harmless fun.

When he was 3 years old, Cornflower’s parents had another son, Periwinkle. Cornflower was excited to be a big brother, and would always sing to and shower his brother with flowers. As Periwinkle grew, the brothers would often make songs and dances together, as most flower demon siblings do, until Peri’s horns grew in. Periwinkle’s horns grew out larger and longer than his older brother’s, making Cornflower jealous of all the attention they got. He began to resent his brother, and would distance himself from Periwinkle.

One day when Cornflower was supposed to babysit, he played a trick on his brother in order to lose him in the woods so he could go play with friends. But later at home, he realized Periwinkle hadn’t come home yet, sending his parents into a frenzy of worry for one son and anger at the other. After hours of searching, Cornflower found Periwinkle huddled asleep in the stump of a tree. Once returned home they made sure Peri was alright before punishing his brother. They ask Cornflower why he abandoned his brother, to which he confesses his jealousy. As punishment, their parents chopped off all of Cornflower’s hair, made him wear average clothes, and filed down his horns, which he was not allowed to try and regrow faster with magic. In order to teach him to be more humble and caring of others.

Cornflower isolated himself from other’s instead, feeling hideous. But late at night, while trying to sleep, he’d hear Periwinkle lay near him. His little brother would sing softly enough for his parents not to hear, but enough to heal Cornflower’s horns little by little before Periwinkle’s lullaby would help him fall asleep. During his regrowth the brother’s began spending more time bonding together like they used to. After his horn fully regrows to its original shape, Conrflower asks his brother why he’d heal his horns every night even though he purposely got Periwinkle lost. To which his younger brother simply answers that he didn’t want to his brother to suffer. Cornflower vowed to do whatever it’d take so Periwinkle would never have to suffer either.

Fiobleur throughout the years had been dealing with feuds between kingdoms in the southern lands, so the leader of the flower demons in Fiobleur, Gold Rose, decided she’d try to mend things. But one day, when Cornflower was around age 19, everyone in the kingdom heard great bolts of lightning coming from the Great Tree where Gold Rose resided, as a large beast appearing from the sky. A huge sandstorm came with the beast, devastating the once flourishing plant life. Yet the Great Tree seemed to have been safeguarded from the storm and beast. The flower demons were lost with Gold Rose nowhere in sight. So here younger sisters, Black and White Rose decide to lead the flower demons to safety.  Mages from northern Fiobleur were able to come together and create a barrier to stop the beast’s influence and prevent it from escaping farther. But by the time they did a majority of the flower demon kingdom was gone. With the huge population of flower demons, the sisters decided to split them in half and migrate in separate directions, with White moving to south western Fiobleur to start a territory called Petalan and Black moving a bit more north to start the territory of Stemine.

Cornflower’s family moved to Petalan with White Rose, and he was elected as Petalan’s representative for other kingdom affairs while White worked to get the people settled into their new home.
