Elijah grew up in England and was on her way to obtain a degree in the sciences. Up till then, she had always been quite the ugly kid. Thick glasses, quite overweight; not exactly a looker. When a fellow scientist began to tease her about how she'd never get a husband, Elijah retorted she could and subsequently went to find herself one.

In her search, she met the "perfect" guy. Something in the back of her head told her that he was bad news, but her spite towards her colleagues made her go against her better judgement. After their third date, the guy revealed himself as a vampire and bit her before fleeing the site, thinking Elijah died. Elijah did not, in fact, die, but it definitely hurt like hell. She had a hard time adjusting to the vampire life, though she eventually got used to it. As a result, Elijah harbours incredible hate towards the vampire who bit her.
