Krystal has been an avid duelist and hobbyist card collector since she was young. Out of all the card games, Duel Monsters was the only one that stuck with her when she grew. The game was always evolving and she began to develop personal attachments to certain cards such as Tualatin from her deck comprised of Light Fairies. She competes in both small-time to large-scale competition duels whilst managing a small team of indie game developers. Despite her duelist popularity growing, the Duel Monsters game itself was starting to decline with other card games emerging that rivaled it. Through a desperate and secret business arrangement between Kai and Kaiba, Duel Monsters would continue to be the most successful card game in the world.
