Stormyfly's eventual wife, and Pearl Drop's mother; Shimmer Star is a unicorn from the Wastelands who lives alone in a laboratory. Her one companion is the android pony Error State. Day in and day out, they perform tests to perfect Shimmer Star's knowledge of the world.
Upon learning of Dawnbright from a transmission on her radio, Shimmer Star becomes increasingly jealous and obsessive, and lures Dawnbright and her friends to her lab. There, she traps them and puts them through her tests, to determine if ponies can tell real friendship memories from fake. Eventually, Dawnbright would talk her down, and Shimmer Star would call off the testing--but unfortunately, it's not really her who is in control...
