I haven’t quite thought about that, but I wouldn’t think so! I would say their white coloration is just a genetic mutation, which can happen without inbreeding in the wild. Their markings are just little quirks only assigned to them, more as a way to distinguish them from normal animals, since they’re the only ones who see the chaos within the reserve. If I end up making a short comic, it will be in black and white, but their markings will still be red, to help identify them. That was my initial reason :0 but thank you for asking!! <3
