Profile

Personality:
Nerva trusts his intuition more than anything, but is easy to trust strangers since he has no problem with giving what he receives, whether it be bad or good. He is only greatly affected by those who wrong him if he is close to them. He holds a hell of a grudge in those cases. He is easily embarrassed when proven wrong, and although he may ghost whoever proved him wrong for quite some time, he'll eventually come to terms and either apologize or gratefully accept the newfound knowledge given to him.

Bio:
Nerva was born to an Elven court mage and their adventurer of a spouse. Before Nerva's birth, his father was hunted and severely wounded by mercenaries hired by the court after he was discovered to have contracted a vampiric disease. He was driven out of the city. Unknown to the court, Nerva's father had been a vampire even before meeting Nerva's mother, who had also kept that fact a secret due to the horrible consequences. Thankfully, she wasn't held accountable for any wrong-doings, claiming she hadn't known the vampire's true self, but in reality, the distance from her spouse initially hit her hard.

Nerva grew up only being able to sporadically meet his father in secret, all the while remaining under his mother's wing. She was overprotective of him and did her best to hide his vampiric traits, training him in arcane magics all the while hiding him away from anyone who dared to get too close. He grew up with irrational and over-the-top fears due to all the consequences of his existence within the kingdom. He often questioned why they couldn't leave the city and live with his father, but his mother wouldn't give him straight answers. With the exception of his knowledge for magic, she treated him as if he didn't understand a thing about the real world. When he brought up the thought to his father, his father was excited but his mother had a major issue with it. He ended up discovering that his mother was afraid for his safety, afraid that Nerva could easily be killed if found with his father, not wanting Nerva to live a life completely in the shadows.

At around the age of 16, he was brought to see his father less and less, but noticed that his mother would often sneak away without him during the late hours of the night. He could only assume she was meeting his father without him, and began to hold a grudge against her for a few months until finally deciding to discreetly follow behind her. He discovered his mother was having an affair. Angry and disgusted, he ran away that very instant, taking nothing with him but the clothes on his person, and set out to meet his father once again.

After his initial anger simmered down, Nerva found himself waiting at the spot at which he used to meet his father until sunrise. Fearful of what was to come if he moved deeper into the forest that bordered his city, he was too upset to go back to his mother and proceeded. He often found himself frozen in place at the slightest of sounds, and hidden behind trees and bushes during the brightest times of day in fear of being seen. He wasn't able to find his father within the first week of his travels, nor the second or third, but he was able to make do with the resources of the forest, creating elixirs and foods to keep him standing while he trudged on. A lot of the time during his travels was filled with regret for leaving his mother although too stubborn and lost to turn back. The rest of his time, although lonely, was incredibly peaceful. He was able to take in his surroundings, the unfamiliar species of trees as he strayed farther from home, and the fresh air, untouched by others like himself.

When he came into contact with civilization once again after a good month of solitude, he was happier than he could ever imagine. He saw people of all races, upbringings, and elements. His home city was only filled with few humans and elves, and the new sight almost had his stomach in a knot. Stepping foot into that town felt like stepping into freedom. It was the first time he felt urged to uncover the robes that always hid him, and when he did, nothing happened. People walked by as if nothing new came about, and he loved it. Even though this new sensation had him by the hand and heart, he was brought back to his original goal, finding his father.

Nerva was able to freely question about the existence and whereabouts of his father within that city, but had no leads with the exception of a vampire cave being not to far from town. He was quick to jump on the lead, and upon discovering and entering the cave, he found it nearly empty of life, but full of journals, supplies, and necessities. He spent a few days in the comfortable cave, reading through every single journal and rummaging through every chest and wardrobe, finding the entries of what seemed to be rogue vampires. To his surprise, his father was one of those vampires. The entries had no sign of them leaving the cave indefinitely, yet there were records of mysterious and mystical occurrences that happened within their cave. All of the last entries appeared to be normal, and the longer Nerva waited within the cave, the longer he suspected the vampires somehow vanished since there was no sign of disturbance or struggle within the cave.

He waited about two weeks within the cave until deciding he needed to figure out what happened there. He was seemingly the first person to stumble across the cave in its current state and felt inclined to do so. With a new purpose, it was then when he finally made an effort to properly communicate with the others within the nearby town; earning a few gold by using his magical abilities, shaping up, and shipping out after acquiring as much information as he could about the vampire cave.

He spent years coming and going from the vampire cave, finding enough information and evidence to push him forward when he lost hope. He eventually became known as a detective after spending so long chasing the mystery of the cave and longing to see his father again. Throughout those years, he became a detective for hire. His travels taught him how to fight, persuade, and pursue. He fought his hardest for near a century until one day, upon returning to the vampire's cave, he was met with the entire team of rogue vampires along with his father, confused but with open arms. He was able to reconnect with his father, telling him what he discovered about his mother decades ago. His father explained that he had no idea him and his team were gone for so long. He believed he was only gone for a single day and night, but the advancement of society proved otherwise. None of the vampires knew what happened to them, as they were only on another one of their heists when the whole "disappearance" went down.

Although Nerva was at peace with finding his father and they continued on with a somewhat chaotic but enjoyable life, the disappearance stuck with him. To this day, he proceeds with his detective work and his stubborn nature to seek answers.

Additional:
+Nerva mainly works as a detective for hire, but occasionally goes on heists with his father for the thrill of it.
+He is quite skilled in most magics, including ancient and arcane magics.
+He takes no damage from the sun or silver and the like. His vampire weaknesses are cancelled out by his Elven side. He looks quite normal with the exception of his fangs.
+He hasn't visited his mother in quite some time. She is indeed still alive, but knows nothing of what had become of him. Unknown to Nerva, she has moved on and started a new family that is completely accepted by his home city. She is afraid to search for him or call a search for him, still afraid of the consequences if her son was discovered to be part vampire.
