Artemios exists between nature and civilization; in the landscapes and times that are empty, quiet, and unnoticed. Desolate snowscapes, wind-shaped cliffs, deep watery depths, sun-beaten dunes, long forgotten battlegrounds, and the places only visited by the very few and often non-sentient or non-living.

Long ago he belonged to a clan of time-walkers, who grew too curious about the boundaries of existence. One by one each of them left for a journey that they never returned from. Artemios is the last of his clan within his timeline. He stays away from places that show the passage of time, as to forget what had been and what may be, but is content in his contemplation of such matters.
