Berto Fernandez Vargas

Berto is the second oldest of the Fernandez-Vargas children, but the third to magically change from sea turtle to human. He is supposed to represent Barcelona, Spain. He is named after Antonio's friend Gilbert, and as such, refers to Gilbert as "Namesake". Somehow he got an addiction to ketchup, much to the displeasure of most of his family. They sometimes let him have some in small amounts though, because he'll get jittery from withdrawel. His family will scolt him about it sometimes, but they are just worried about him.

It's unknown if his other quirks are due to the ketchup addiction or if he was just dropped on his shell as a baby turtle, he's a little slow, but sweet, and protective of his siblings and his girlfriend Maria. Berto also tends to talk to inanimate objects and will share their replies. No one knows if he can actually hear them, but they usually humor him anyway. Berto's best friend is a rock he calls Alonso. He also has another rock named Cyneburga, which may or may not be magic.

While most of Berto's family is musically inclined, Berto shows no talent in playing instruments or singing. He can, however, dance the house down. He also seems to have an interest in photography.
