Mio Yamada (II.TenMio)

Tenma and Mio first met when they were young as both of their parents are wellknown actors. Being co stars in the same program, Mio was quite excited to get to know him as she never had the chance to work with others her age. However Tenma was rather cocky and arrogant for his age and had no problem outright telling her that he wasn't interested. Mio was a little upset by this however still treated him nicely during their time as co stars, something that was surprising to Tenma as many people tend to leave him alone after interacting with him. While it was surprising it wasn't unwelcomed. The two would run into each other on different sets as they were often casted in the same movies / shows and Mio always greeted him kindly and it was through this that allowed Tenma to see how hardworking and passionate about acting Mio was. She wasn't on the same level as him per say but he could respect the work she put in. Mio was extremely happy when he admitted this to her as it made her feel good as Tenma was paying her a compliment. From there, the male was more receptive to her attempts at conversation and it was through these little chats that Mio learned that he was simply socially awkward and she understood why. For Tenma, he wasn't used to having a friend, neverthless a friend as cheerful as Mio. Likewise Mio found the male to be rather fun to hang out with, it was nice getting to slowly know more of him than what she could get from his appearances on tv and tabloids. For her the male was very interesting, flaws and all.

Thier relationship becomes heavily strained once the scandel regarding her mother comes to light. Becoming withdrawn and cautious of showing her face, Mio begins to distance herself from her friend which isn't something that he lets slip by as he wanted to be there for her as seeing Mio so unhappy really stung. When confronted about this, Mio explained that she didn't want to drag him or his parents into her mess since she would be accused of using them for fame and roles which wasn't something Tenma could argue as she was right. They reached an understanding as to where they would keep in touch through phone. However Mio would promptly disappear a few day later without a word and it left him angry and hurt. They were suppose to be friends and yet Mio left him high and dry.

The two would lose contact for a few years before Mio's eventual return to Japan. Finally seeing each other once Mio transfers to Ohana high, Tenma is at a lost of words when he sees her walk in and introduce herself to the class and Mio dies a little when she finally notices him. From there, niether really know how to apporach each other; Tenma was happy to finally see her but couldn't shake how angry he was at her sudden disappearance while Mio was scared of the thought of him hating her. The two were eventually forced to talk when Mio ran into him after school as he was waiting for his manager. It takes all of the girl’s courage to walk over to him. Before he could get a word in edgewise, Mio profusely apologizes for her absences and explains why she left, simply due to stress and for the incident to blow over. She understands if he still dislikes her after this but she at least wanted to sorry. This caught Tenma off guard though after composing himself admits that he was angry that she left without a word yet could never bring himself to hate her.

Now that the two were back on speaking terms, most of their time together was spent catching up. Mio admits that she would try and watch anything he was staring in and was equally surprised that he was staring in a play despite having stage fright, promising to support him to the best of her abilities. Tenma was simply happy that bits of the old Mio were coming back and realizes that the crush he had on her never really went away. The two chatted a lot on the phone due to Tenma's busy schedule though he did stop by her home when he had the time, praticing together with whatever script Tenma currently had to learn. For the two, it was fun and peaceful, making them feel that their relationship never really changed from when they were young. It was only after the summer troupe's second play that Mio herself realized that she was developing feelings for her childhood friend and while Tenma was still trying to figure out how to apporach the subject, Mio wasted no time in admiting how she felt as she liked himn and it was nothing to dance around which earned her a very flustered confession from Tenma.
