Sundance lives his life on two different planes--the public eye and his private life. He keeps a very clear differentiation between the two, locking down one every time he's present in the other. He strives above all else to keep the two sides distinct and seperated, and seems to have an acute fear of them bleeding into one another.

To the general public, Sunny presents himself as a model citizen, in both the literal and metaphorical sense. His personality is as rigid as his poise; he speaks quietly but cordially, knows just when to smile, and does not stand for recklessness or irresponsibility. It's a rare occasion to see his smile actually reach his eyes. Intentionally shallow, he's a hard person to form a deep connection with. He labels philosophy as "unnecessary" and small talk is his most familiar territory. He never flinches at attention, but dislikes when things are out of order, backwards, or seemingly pointless. In his mind, there is a strict sense of structure to life and he prefers when things make practical sense; when they don't, he has an immediate and often melodramatic response. Nonsense is Not Safe.

Behind closed doors, however, Sunny reveals an entirely different side of himself. Safely away from the thought that someone might be watching and waiting for him to make a mistake, he's free to release the more vulnerable parts of himself. This most often manifests in the form of surprising warmth and affection. Beneath the glossed exterior, Sundance is a natural lover and caretaker. He enjoys the company of those closest to him and finds merely existing in their presences extremely calming. He laughs at lame humor (if Sam wants someone to actually laugh at his dad jokes, Sunny is the person he goes to), is somewhat clumsy, and indulges in sofa cuddles quite often. He loves to be close to those he cares about, finding safety in them.

Evident in either environment, Sunny's care for others and desire to see them be the best they can be always shows through. Sometimes, it can be difficult to see through the layers of no-nonsense, parental tendencies, and practiced reservation, but everything he does is to this end. If someone, especially someone he knows, is hurting or in need, Sundance will be the the first person to rush to make sure they're taken care of.
