Story

Before Kingdom Hearts

Lume was born in Radiant Garden to a couple who owned a bookstore. Her mother passed away to an unknown illness when she was 5 years old, and Lume states that she only has vague memories of her green eyes and ability to use fire magic. Lume spent most of her youth alone in her father's book store, reading about the multiverse and dreaming of going on adventures like the knights in her fairy tales.

At some point in her youth, Lume decides to emulate the heroes of old by having a fake keyblade made for her. Though skillfully enchanted, this weapon lacks the power of a real keyblade- it can't open or close keyholes, and has no power over the heart.

Kingdom Hearts

When darkness took over Radiant Garden, turning it into Hollow Bastion, Lume and her father were able to escape to Traverse Town. They set up another small book store there.

Lume and Riku briefly met while he was in Traverse Town. He was shocked that she was a "keyblade wielder," a delusion that she happily maintained. They talked briefly about loneliness, Riku tried to get Lume to come with him, and she declined. And maybe lied about her own "mission" or some bs before making a quick escape. Riku left with Maleficent shortly after meeting her, but neither forgot the short, strange time they knew each other

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

After the worlds are restored at the end of Kingdom Hearts, Lume and her father pack their books and leave Traverse Town. Since Radiant Garden isn't restored yet, they set up shop in Twilight Town. Lume begins to claim that she is the keyblade wielder that saved the worlds. Nobody believes her, really, but the shear insanity of her claim, and her ability to tell stories, helps her make friends with Hayner, Pence, and Olette.

One boring evening she is dared to visit the old mansion that was serving as home base for DiZ, Riku, and Namine's efforts to restore Sora-- since she is the savior of the worlds this should be no problem for her. Not one to back out of a lie, she sneaks in and meets Riku. Initially DiZ is ready to throw her out, if not worse, but Riku recognizes her and her 'keyblade' from their meeting in Traverse Town. He convinces them that she could be a valuable asset to the team. Though skeptical, DiZ allows Lume to stay as an errand girl for the group, preforming menial tasks like surveying and planning. She discovers a talent for computer work and begins to grow close to the rest of the team members.

During the events of 358/2 Days, we learn that Lume an errand girl for the group, preforming menial tasks like surveying and planning. She discovers a talent for computer work and begins to grow close to the rest of the team members. Though she does not meet Roxas, Lume and Xion meet briefly when Xion comes to Twilight Town to speak to Namine. Lume says that she is fine being only a small part of a larger whole if it means she gets to spend time with her friends.

Kingdom Hearts II

Lume is one of the architects of the digital Twilight Town, going into the simulation to do some work. In the Prolouge, she can be spoken to by Roxas- she mentions needing to do "routine maintenance," even though "It won't be around for too much longer."
After Roxas leaves the simulation and rejoins with Sora, Riku decides to part with DiZ and Lume goes with him. She becomes his eyes. Using the computer skills she learned  while working with DiZ, Lume tracks Sora and the Organization all over the multiverse. She and Riku work closely together to protect Sora and counter the Org's movements.

Around the time when Kairi is kidnapped by Axel, Lume's safehouse is overrun by Heartless. Even aided by Riku, she barely escapes with her life. Homeless and terrified, she follows Riku (against her better judgement) to the World that Never Was to rescue Kairi. She conducts herself admirably but when Xemnas retreats into Kingdom Hearts, she is expected to help open the door. Her years of lying that she is a keyblade wielder catch up with her when she can't- her fake keyblade has no power. Coming clean, Lume snaps the keyblade in half. Betrayed, Riku tells her that he never wants to see her again, and goes to fight the final battle.
Heartbroken after loosing her friend twice- once to her own betrayal, and once to Xemnas, Lume goes to Destiny Island with Kairi, Sora, Mickey, Goofy, and Donald. When Riku and Sora return to the realm of Light, Riku barely acknowledges her - he's still pretty pissed. Sora beams at her, though.

Kingdom Hearts Re:coded

Lume travels to Disney Castle to help in Mickey's request to mine the journal for its data. The computer skills she learned working with DiZ allow her to create the digital worlds and help Data-Sora navigate them. She becomes good friends with Data-Sora, as she works as a guide for him, but she tries not to interact too much with the data world since she no longer has a weapon to defend herself.

She interacts once with the Journal in the form of Riku. She apologizes for lying to him for so long and expresses regret that she hasn't tried to make things up with him. The Journal tells her that she should try again. There must be some reason why Riku trusted her for so long, and they should try to find it again

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Lume is absent for most of this game, presumably still at Disney Castle. She arrives at Yen Sid's tower just as Riku is going to enter Sora's heart and save him. Lume seems like she's about to apologize, but she just pats Riku on the arm and tells him to be safe and save Sora. He seems to understand and tells her that they will talk later.

Her relief is obvious when Riku returns safely, and so is her excitement when he becomes a master. She almost hugs him when they are told, but things are still somewhat awkward. She encourages Sora when he fails and tells him that if he needs her help, she'll support him.

Kingdom Hearts III

Personality

On one hand, Lume is really smart: a clever strategist. She spent her entire childhood reading about the multiverse, so while she doesn't have much practical experience, she has a wide knowledge base. Those books instilled her with a strong sense of right and wrong, and a sense of chivalry. Lume has an active sense of humor, and loves a prank or two or three. Most people find her little grin and braying laugh annoying at best. Still, if you can get by that, she's quite friendly in general. On the other hand, Lume is a compulsive liar. She's not a key-blade wielder, or even really important in the whole scheme of things, but she's really good at convincing people she is. She's a little bit of a coward, but she would call it "prudence"

Appearance

Lume is a short (5'2")  and chubby woman with light skin, green eyes, freckles, and brown hair with a distinctive ahoge.

Kingdom Hearts

Lume has shoulder-length hair and bangs. She wears a red tank top, black jeans, boots, and fingerless gloves. Lume has a white jacket tied around her waist.  Her keyblade holster is a belt worn across her chest, with magnetic attachments for her weapon.

Kingdom Hearts II

Lume's hair is short and choppy with bangs that frame her face. She wears a sleeveless red turtleneck, a pair of white jeans and back boots with heart-shaped buckles. Over that Lume wears a red-brown jacket with a fur-lined hood. There are cat ears attached to the hood, which you can see when she wears it up. She also has white shoulder armor on her left shoulder. Underneath her jacket, Lume wears black fingerless gloves that go up to her upper arms. She also wears her keyblade holster.

Abilities

x

Weapons

Up until the end of Kingdom Hearts II, Lume uses a fake keyblade. It looks exactly like Sora's Kingdom Key, but lacks any of the Keyblade's magical properties: it can't open or seal keyholes, or access hearts. It also cant disappear so Lume has to carry it strapped to her back.

After she destroys the fake keyblade, she switches to using a mace. It is red metal with white spikes. It has a keychain; a black silhouette of a cat's head with a heart in it.

Others

Lume has some magical ability: she specializes in fire and healing spells.

Relationships

Riku

"Insert Quote"

They met way back in KH1, in traverse town: Lume was carrying her fake keyblade, and Riku questioned her on it. It was only a brief, meeting, but it stuck in both of their minds as an especially odd part of an already odd day. They meet again when Lume was living in Twilight Town: Riku remembered her and her keyblade. Instead of throwing her out or erasing her memories, he insisted that she stay and help them protect Sora as he slept (She had a keyblade, after all). Unable to give away her actual inability to use a keyblade, Lume agreed. Even though they both tried to remain distant and focus on their current jobs, they started to become friends. As they needed to rely on each other more and more, but they grew to trust each other greatly. During KH2, Lume ends up as his informant, and their friendship gets stronger (Despite herself, this is when Lume starts to develop her crush on Riku). When she finally admits her her lie about her keyblade, they loose a lot of the trust they had and drift apart for a time. She tries to repair their friendship around the time of DDD, by helping Riku prepare for his Mark, and encouraging him when she could. They're back to being friends.

Development

I've had this freaking character since I was 12.... She's developed from an absolute Mary Sue to something... less of a Mary Sue, I hope.
